This is exactly the kind of DIY stuff I want to see. No power tools, no hyper-specific materials on clearance from your local wood shop, just a few things that a 12 year old could reasonably get with their allowance

exactly!

This thing is nice if you never move it. If you have to pack your P&P stuff and play at a friends place, better just use thick paper and tape it together. Way thinner and foldable. Lasts decades.

This is exactly what I did as a kid before I knew DM screens were even a thing lol

I just took 2 cereal boxes, cut the flaps off, and taped them together

and you can use the binder rings to hold larger documents, and the pockets for removable stuff!!! Great idea!!

Cool My friend made me a screen like that years ago. He even attached photocopies of charts from the DMG on the inside

This seems sturdier, more practical than a regular cardstock screen. Easier to decorate, has pockets, can hold anything that was 3-hole punched. 😮

that's what i was looking for when i searched for "diy dm screen", not those fancy matt mercer ripoffs

Great tip! If you get the binders with slip covers and backs you can load them up with art or cheat sheets!

Actually that's pretty smart because you can still use the rings to hold pages, just pin open the one you want info displayed from. Off-grid infinite DM screen unlocked

I use an old Bakugan board cut in half and glued together. It's a little smaller but I like it.

My DM uses the pins (I'd call them pegs!) for initiative order. Write names on both sides and have a scale drawn across the top of the screen and put the pegs in the positions. Works a treat 👍

I did this but I taped them together with black duct tape. Also:you can get some thansparent binder folders so you have multiple pages accessible.

I'd be willing to bet it holds together a lot better than traditional DM screens, too! Those binders are pretty damn sturdy.

I love playing D&D and I love doing crafts to make playing more fun. Thank you for this video 😂

Not a bad idea. My next suggestion for improvement(s) would probably be clipboards _(or just the clips)_ that could be fastened to the insides, or just slipped in the binder pockets if you need them to be removable. The clothespins work fine, but the clipboard clips would probably be a lot more secure and hold larger items in greater quantities like character sheets or map sketches drawn on letter-sized paper.

This is great tips, because those things can also be found at third stores for cheap, or given away free. So cheap and eco friendly 🎉

I made my old one out of a pizza box and a school folder, it was great and I could draw all over it

I used the board from a copy of sorry that was missing almost all the cards. Ripped it in half, then taped together again. Works perfectly for me!

My DIY screen was a couple canvas panels connected with white duct tape and sheet protectors taped on the sides of the panels and I would put my info in regular paper and stick it in the sheet protectors

Nut, they sell project boards at the dollar store for less. Or use poster board that you fold for less than a dollar. Or cut a cardboard box.

Nice man, do you think it's possible to print out some art and stick it to the screen considering the material
@Jimalcoatl Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can either print on label paper and make your printed art into stickers or use two sided tape to stick your art on, or just clip it on with binder clips.
@DMofBriseras Жыл бұрын
Some binders also have clear pockets on the cover, you could just slide a printed picture into the cover that way

It would be cool to try facing it with some poster board material or cloth/faux leather

Ok, but you buried the lede here. Put notebook paper in the rings and you have A LOT of space for notes. Or add those clear document sheets for drawings and cutouts. This is SO USEFUL.

I like not gluing it so that I can have two books that can put new stuff inside of and then just using the rubber band. I've done this more than once
