I have done some research and unfortunately cannot find out if that’s a good substitute , it is toxic to dogs if they ingest a big amount . But in a shampoo there wouldn’t be a great amount . For itchy skin here are some ideas to use: Coconut oil Apple cider vinegar and water Chamomile and green tea soak Aloe Vera gel (Also mentions baking soda and oatmeal ) But I did not see baking powder . Sorry I don’t have a better answer

If I were to make glycerin soap for my dog, is that ok on their hair and skin? Oddly. my dog doesn't do good with oatmeal in his shampoo.
@luckydogcreations1
@luckydogcreations1 2 жыл бұрын
Vegetable glycerin is safe to use on dogs , you can put it in pure Castile soap . It acts as a moisture barrier to make his coat shine and help with itchiness as well . However I’m not sure on glycerin bars , depends on what other ingredient goes in it . I hope this helps

Hi can I put apple cider vinegar in this mixture too
@luckydogcreations1
@luckydogcreations1 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can as long as they don’t have any open sores. . It soothes itchy skin so would be beneficial. Or you can make a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and water and put in a spray bottle to use in between shampoos . Apple cider vinegar and baking soda together cause a chemical reaction that can cause bloating , gas and vomiting , so you would have to take care they don’t ingest it. Or maybe swap out the baking soda for the apple cider vinegar then if they ingest a little it will be safe

There are no preservatives to use if you want to keep it natural , but I had mine for 3-4 months and it was still good. I wouldn’t suggest using it longer than that , however you can add grape seed oil, or potassium sorbate (which is not as natural) also keeping it in the fridge will extend the life a bit. But always check first before using
@thesoapymitten
@thesoapymitten 2 жыл бұрын
Using this without a preservative will give your dog a fungal infection. Where there is water, mold, yeast and bacteria will grow... even if you can smell or see it. I don't recommend this as a soap maker. This is not soap.

Olive oil can breed bacteria , you can add like a Tablespoon to every cup of water used , but it won’t last as long . Be sure and check it often .Olive oil is good for itch but that’s what the oatmeal is for. For a moisturizer, if you want it to last longer I’d use glycerin .

@@daddynowski you can use olive oil for dogs, it does have benefits . You can put it in homemade treats , or drizzle it over his dog food . The recommended amount is no more than a teaspoon for every 20 pounds they weigh , so if a dog weighed 40 lbs no more than 2 tsp daily . Some of the benefits include healthy coat, maintain body weight , boost immune system and help his food taste better . I hope this helps

@luckydogcreations1
@luckydogcreations1 4 жыл бұрын
Emily Esparza good question, and it’s important to realize that dogs like to lick themselves and the water and some essential oil are harmful to dogs. So the only essential oil I would recommend would be lavender. Or a little bit of honey possibly.

What is the pH of this shampoo?
@luckydogcreations1
@luckydogcreations1 3 жыл бұрын
Great question ! I don’t know exactly but since it is all natural , and I did research of what dog ph level should be and what dog shampoos generally are my guess is it is comparable to regular dog shampoo which is 6.75-7. Dogs are more ph neutral than humans so this is a good ph balance . But I haven’t tested it but like I said going from my ingredients to what’s in regular shampoo. It’s comparable
@cymar1000
@cymar1000 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the actual pH level, but since Baking Soda is an alkaline (reduces and even neutralises acidity levels), it should be fine for a dogs. Considering they tend to roll about in all sorts of stuff that can be quite acidic, this will help alleviate any irritation. BTW, a teaspoon of Baking Soda in a hi-ball glass of water is great for heartburn/indigestion.
