For any one who reads the comments-vinegar and Castile soap don't go together the vinegar unsaponifies the soap, so it's no longer soap. First wash dog in the Castile soap, rinse, then use vinegar last. The vinegar surely stinks-BUT- once dried the scent goes away completely leaving a fresh smell and great look and feel to their fur.

@@derp8575 Yes I find that to be the best way. I always just get the lavender Dr. Bronners Castile soap. I used to get unscented and add my own essential oils but since it cost the same I like getting them already added. I also used to add oils like almond, avocado, jojoba etc. but I noticed it didn't suds up as much, I actually spoke with Lisa one of the owners of Dr. bronners and she told me that there really isn't a reason to add oils to it as it already contains many different oils and were formulated to have the correct amounts in it. When you add more it lessens the effectiveness of the soap. So I wash the dog with Lavender castile soap, rinse, then add vinegar-rub it in like conditioner, then a quick rinse and done. I put vinegar in a small spray bottle and spray it on, but you can just pour it right out of the bottle you just need enough to coat everything. It does stink when you put it on, but I promise when the dogs fur is completely dry you don't smell the vinegar at all it just smells fresh. I take it a step further I have Polysorbate 20 which is an emulsifier (blends water and oils together) and put 20-40 drops lavender essential oil (or any dog safe E.O. of choice) with a tsp. of poly20, let sit for 20 minutes to emulsify (blends together) them fill 4oz. spray bottle with vinegar them shake to blend everything together. It's awesome because if you do that once the vinegar dries you only smell the lavender. I use that spray for several different things mainly to spray on the shower to prevent mold but I use it for the dog and sometimes to shine up chrome bathroom fixtures etc. If you're into essential oils Poly20 is awesome to make any E.O. product. You can get it on Amazon for cheap. But it's not necessary.

@@homoerotic85 Thank you for your brief explanation! May I know using essential oils on dogs is really safe ? Cuz' I read somewhere that using essential oils even at home causes seizures in dogs due to smell or something I don't remember exactly please can you clear my doubt?

@@akhilanair33 There are essential oils that are safe for dogs, but there are EOs not dog safe. It is ok if you diffuse them in ultrasonic diffuser 10 drops max. The issues come about when they are improperly used like putting the non safe oils directly on them, or putting 30 drops in a diffuser which makes the concentration way too high. Basically you need to know the bare basics of how to safely use EOs, once you understand how to use them then you'll be good to use around your pets. The only EO I use on my dog is Lavender because it is dog safe and is one of the gentlest EOs as far as negative reactions. Before using an EO on them just Google if it is dog safe. I'm pretty sure Tee Tree is listed as not dog safe, but there is a catch to that one. You can use Tee Tree topically on dogs safely-but- it needs to be applied on areas (like their back) they can't easily lick because it is not safe for them to ingest. When diffusing, you can use whatever you like just don't go over 10 drops and make sure a door is open so if they don't like it they can go elsewhere. One more thing- this is if the dog is healthy. If a dog has preexisting conditions, like a bad or failing liver then if it's not dog safe I wouldn't even diffuse it. Even then it would probably be ok, but it wouldn't be worth chancing. Most of the incidents or deaths happen when someone misuses EOs on an already sick dog. I agree never to mix them together but to vinager after. But it will leave a tacky salt build up on Any thing. At least you know what's in the shampoo. Most Dog shampoo are ment for dogs anyway and lanolin is a good moisturiser .

I use this on my RBCH and his coat is so shinny! He get complimented everywhere we go! He gets clean and I have to keep him from licking while I shampoo him and I do notice he has much less flaking of his skin using this recipe. Thanks

There's no way that will work lol. Not enough soap for a dog, and you don't need to add oil to castile soap. Castile soap is made from coconut and vegetable oils. If you rinse your dog in vinegar you should do it after you wash them as a conditioner. Which I can't do because no matter how many times I rinse him he smells like a salad and my husband complains lol.

Yes u can definitely use dawn dish soap and the other oils yes you can use and you can also use tea tree :)

Eucalyptus oil is toxic to dogs!! Ask your vet about the tea tree oil. I know lemon and all citrus is toxic also for dogs

Prasanna Pradeep foam really doesn’t do anything for cleaning. It’s sodium lauryl sulfate that makes foam in a lot of soap.

Yes it does! The oils help with the flaking. Coconut oil or any carrier oil will help with the flaking but Coconut oil also kills fleas and ticks and sooths the skin

Don't know about this but i can suggest you to use all natural ingredients shampoo. It is very good for dandruff. As a pet parent i recommend you to use this .

I just made this... and OMG the smell... smells like a dead rat 🐀 🐁 🐭. I added 15 drops of Lavender and 5 drops of Tee Tree and you don't smell them at all. Lol This was the first time I have ever smelled or used apple cider vinegar. I added some Polysorbate 80 in mine hoping that will keep everything together. I'm hoping that when I wash the dog and once the vinegar smell wears off I'm hoping the Lavender scent will appear. Our dog itches like a crazy dog for no apparent reason so I'm hoping this will fix her. I'll come back and comment how it worked. Oh... instead of using plain water I brewed green tea and used that, they say that is suppose to help with itching.

@@thelovelydrkeyx3250 Oh I'm glad you asked! It turned out, and worked like...shi+! Lol! Don't waist your time or ingredients! This recipe shouldn't even be shared. Most importantly vinegar and Castile soap combined is a no no when you add vinegar to Castile soap it literally unsaponifies the soap so it's no longer soap and basically does nothing. Also the amount of Castile soap in recipe is no where near enough. Those ingredients do work great, just not together. What works great is to get lavender Dr. Bonners Castile soap or if you have unscented just add 15 drops to 2 oz. of Castile soap if you want you can add a teaspoon of coconut oil-but I don't I find it unnecessary wash the dog as usual then rinse. Lastly put some vinegar in a spray bottle, generously spray and rub it in, them dry dog with towel. Just a heads up the vinegar stinks to high heaven's 🦨 BUT once the dog is dry there is zero vinegar smell but the dogs coat looks and feels really great and smells clean. Also if your dog is always chewing at or licking its paws the vinegar helps with that-I think it's yeast (or something mold like) that causes them to lick their feet like that so the vinegar gets rid of that.

Castile soap is very, very hash. Apple cider vinegar is like pouring battery acid on your dog! Horrible! Do not use the info here.
