I trimmed the ends and lightly melted them, so the sharp edges don't hurt the dog... In general, if the knot is very tight, you can simply cut the ends right up to the knot, leaving about 1 inch

Most likely cut it off and torched 🔥the end flat. A lot of dogs like the strands at the end of the knot. I would just cut it short to look like tassels.🍻👍🏽
