There is something so magical about Dole Whip from the Disney Parks and there are tons of copycat recipes claiming to taste exactly like the stuff from the parks...so we're putting them to the test! In this video, Julia and Ben find some of the most popular recipes from around the web and find out if they hold a candle to the frozen pineapple treat.

Maybe for Gemma’s recipe since store bought frozen pineapples are usually pretty sour, instead get the canned pineapple tidbits and freeze those, and then use the leftover juice to make it even sweeter and maybe creamier

I’m a bit late to the party but instead of coconut milk, maybe try coconut cream. Might make it a bit creamier and thicker.

There is a history of the Dole Whip video floating around on KZbin. According to that video, there is not pineapple in the recipe. It is a soft serve mix that has no dairy and pineapple flavored powder.

You are missing the condensed milk. That is what is in ice cream as well.

Add to the 16oz frozen pineapple chunks- one teaspoon of lemon juice, one of lime juice, two tablespoons confectioners Swerve, one half teaspoon xanthan gum, a pinch of salt, one cup coconut milk, little less than half of a frozen banana. That tastes just like it to me- but I dont think you can nail the texture without investing in a soft serve machine.

I agree...No Banana! No Regular Milk. No coconut milk either. Here's how I make it: In your Food Processor, not your blender, in your Food Processor, just add the juice of one lemon, the juice of one lime, a teeny tiny pinch of salt - or pinch Ben's butt, perhaps it should be "AND pinch Ben's butt" - one 16 oz. bag of FROZEN Dole Gold Pineapple Chunks, and a quarter cup (or more! to taste) of Sweetened Condensed Milk. (I know, I know...) Blend/Process until it becomes a frozen treat that out-Dole Whips Dole Whip every time. (There is NO PINEAPPLE in the Dole Whip at Disney BTW. It tastes of pineapple, but it is Franken-Soft-Serve.) Here you DO need the Sweetened Condensed Milk to help approximate the creaminess of Disney Dole Whip otherwise it's just whipped pineapple.) Try it! It's terrific.

@@HonestHotelReviews I use the Dole whip mix (1 cup), with 1.5 cups of water and 1.5 cups of milk (optional). I use the Cuisinart ice cream maker. BINGO!! This was the ticket. There is a video on KZbin by a gentleman that I used and it was ready in 30 min by the Cuisinart machine.

I found your taste test helpful, even though I've never had one. I thought about what you said, then thought cool whip would be a good substitute for the ice cream. I looked up recipes and found this one; 2c. Frozen pineapple, 8 oz. Cool whip, 3T.honey or 2T. Sugar, 6 oz pineapple juice.😃 This might need some adjusting but it sounds like it would fill the bill.

I know this video was a several years ago, but I just found a recipe for dole whip! 2 cups frozen pineapple, 1/4 cup coconut milk, 1/16 tsp salt, 1 tbsp lemon juice. Hope this one is a good as they say!!

Ummm, I'm pretty sure the secrete ingredient is egg whites or egg white powder. Frozen pineapple & egg white, maybe a dash of powdered sugar (& lemon juice?). Egg whites are what's used in The Orange Julius to give it a creamy froth. 👍

A little late (a little?!) but the banana has always been so random. However, when he said it made it creamier, i thought maybe it is not so random. So when does a banana not taste strongly of banana? When it is green (not fully ripe)the skin will be light yellow with a touch of green tint. Freeze it? Maybe not but chilled until it is almost frozen. The skin will be brown as bananas don't typically lounge at 39°

Really?! That’s awesome! I’ve seen it at ice cream stores in Hawaii in recent years but it didn’t taste as good as at Disneyland...but maybe I’m biased lol. Also, we’re from Canada so maybe they don’t sell it in stores up here??? Thanks for the info 😊

As Normal As It Gets perhaps it needs more time to mix.. or completely blend and dissolve entire powder into water.. maybe a slow simmer and make sure there isn't any powder left.
