Thanks! Well it’s basically the same as any of the ones on the market, except they use a large v-band clamp to hold 2 halves together. I couldn’t find one so I had to improvise. The baffles are definitely necessary though, otherwise you have air in your oil and it can destroy the engine

@@limitlessbuilds Tank you very much for your reply. I am building on a 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial replica with a 3 liter Volvo white block inline-6 engine. Do you know how the dry sump tanks was designed i the 50:s ? I will use an used Weaver Brothers 3-stage dry sump pump I in Florida on eBay. What dry sump pump do you use? What oil filter block do you use?

@@nils5005 mine is a factory filter on the block, can’t remember the name of the dry sump kit, but there is only a couple available for the hayabusa engine. If I was guessing, I bet the older tanks still used a lot of the same principles. I have never seen one but I’m guessing they still enter back to the tank so it runs along the wall, and would have at least one baffle

That’s a lot of work! Really good job, I think the video was a little too long maybe a bit more fast paced and around 10mins long. Not trying to criticise just want to see you get more of that KZbin money👍

How much clearance did you end up with between your pickup tube and the bottom of the tank with that nospill plug? When you showed it mocked up it looked too close to flow very well.

Actually didn’t really consider it being too close. Just measured, 1/4” off the bottom. It is flared slightly too. Do you think that would be too close?

I might have to try an electric pump on it with clear hose to see what happens

Nice work, but I don't understand why the baffles have to be there in first place. Why not simply make a tank and a single baffle at the pickup. Are you expecting gravitational upforce or what is the point?

The baffling is to remove air from the oil. The mechanical pump is always sucking oil away from the sump, and always pulling in air as well. If you don’t remove the air, you will end up pumping that through your engine and possibly wreck bearings due to lack of lubrication.
