Re-purposing / re-banding a cellular/PCS antenna into a dual band VHF UHF antenna. Items used are items from the "dollar box" at a hamfest tailgate and everyday hardware. Electronic surplus can be your friend !

not sure I'd go to that effort for that but I can't knock a man for fiddling with stuff to turn it into something else. good work mate.

@@survivalcomms welcome mate. enjoyed it. nothing better than making it yourself, even if you could have bought it for half the price.

Could you better explain maybe in a message, the characteristics of this antenna? You explain the operation but I do not speak English and it is difficult to understand the various steps. Thank you very much.

I like this, but as a tinkerer I would like to add my opinion as it were. Instead of adding the wire at the bad of the collector, why not install a bolt and drill it to accept the collector and then cross drill the collar and bolt to add a set screw? I mean it would be more work but it would probably be more sturdy. The other thought I had was if I were to do it your way with the wire, I would’ve used J-B Weld to fill in the void and lock it all into place. Again, not knocking what you are doing, rather I am sharing my ideas with you and the community.

Yes I could have used brass tubing as well and drilled / tapped for a 4/40 setscrew. I mentioned the set screw at the 4 minute mark. This was done as an experiment with what was on hand at the time. Thanks for watching !

But with this dipole can I receive these frequencies? I don't have a receiver yet but it will be coming soon. For the time being thank you.

JJD1913 it works pretty good. It certainly isn't a Larsen or Motorola spectrum but for a cobbled together radiator it surprised me. Thanks for watching !
