Love the skirt if I wanted it longer I will increase in length for the flounce right!
@itssaneD3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jennifer, thank you for the compliment. 🙏🏾🙏🏾 I have two suggestions. 1. Make sure your Ankara material’s width is more than 58” (mine was only 46”) the circle part of the skirt could not be long enough. But if you are not using Ankara material just make sure your width is long enough for the big circle part to be longer. 2. If you can’t find an Ankara material with a width that is long enough, I would suggest that you make the shift skirt part long enough maybe up-to your knee so that it gives the skirt more length. I hope this makes sense.

Good day sis Did you say to cut the circle one must measure the circumstances of where the straight skirt will stop ??? What is the length of the straight skirt??
@vanessashaw53658 ай бұрын
I still don’t understand how you were able to fit both circles together since one has a smaller circumference than the other. What did I miss?
@lethimngadi61352 жыл бұрын
What part of the body did you measure for the circumference of the layers
@itssaneD2 жыл бұрын
You would have to take your waist measurement, your hip measurement and the length of how much you want the upper skirt part you want it to be. Then the bottom circle has to be longer than the circle at the top. I hope this reply makes sense. 🙈🙈
@lisaln39872 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have the same question and I feel like the answer you gave is still not enough. Yes, I need waist and hip measurements those are for the pencil part of the skirt. Then you say length of 2 circles...but what or how did you get the circumference of the 2 circle parts. You used your waist size? Or did you measure lower part of your hips?
@itssaneD2 жыл бұрын
@@lisaln3987 hey Lisa, I do apologize that my answer was not clear. Let me try and simplify it in words. 🙈 I find it better to explain while doing. I may do a tutorial on how to make this high low part. So, once you have taken your pencil skirt measurements and the desired length. From the length of the pencil skirt you will have to take the measurements of the circumference opening. That is how wide you would like the opening to be. Ideally it should have an allowance and room for you to move. Eg. If the length of your skirt is up to the knees you would have to take the circumference measurements of the knee (how wide you want your circle ⭕ to be). It would be that circumference ÷ 4. Which will give you the radius of the open area of the circle. (I will do a tutorial for this part to make it simple) creating a high low part is one which is complex to explain in words. But the longer circle should be 64inch by 64inch, told it into four (just like when you are cutting a circle) And the shorter one should be 54inch by 54inch 1. Fold your fabric into fourths, wrong side up. Measure from the corner out using your measuring tape like a protractor, and create a quarter circle with tailor’s chalk or a washable fabric marker. Be careful not to use something that is permanent or hard to wash out. Cut along the marked line. 2. Open up your skirt to a folded semi-circle. Slide the top layer up until it’s the length of the front hem plus the radius. take your time when cutting this part and you will get it right, it will be worth it. 3. As carefully as you can, fold your skirt in half again, so that it is sort of in fourths. You may want to pin or clip the fold in place, so it doesn’t shift while you move the skirt. Draw out your radius, the same way you marked for your first circle. Cut out your opening. 4. When you open your skirt all the way up, it will have the high low effect and do the same with the shorter circle. Depending on how long you want it to be but it will have to be shorter than the longer one 5.You can sew them together onto the pencil skirt part. Sheesh I really hope I explained proper. I will try and make a video soon
@lisaln39872 жыл бұрын
@@itssaneD so if I want the ruffle to be right below my butt like what you made, I should take the measurement from my waist or widest part of my hips or even add more? Let me ask this when you gave the measurement of 20" when you were cutting the ruffle where did you get the 20" from on your body? Thanks 😊 🙏

Was there really a need for lining on the top circle? And why no lining on the straight part of the skirt?
@itssaneD2 жыл бұрын
Hey C P. There was no need however I wanted the same effect for both circles. Had I only lined the bottom circle the difference in thickness would be obvious. No lining on the straight part just a preference. I am also not a professional at this just sharing how I learnt how to sew.

I love this skirt but the tutorial was hard to follow after you interfaced the bottom circle layer. Did You sew the liner to the fabric by sewing right sides together? The circle measurement was the circumference of your hips? You didn't explain how the top portion of the skirt was constructed. Did you serge the two circles together at the top? This skirt came out AWESOME!
@itssaneD2 жыл бұрын
Hey Bombchery, I would like to apologize for a late reply I had been on a break from YT. The lining - yes I did sew it together with the skirt part. Yes the circle part was the circumference of my hips. Yes I did serge the two circles at the top once I sew then together. My next video I will work on delivering a better video ☺️ explaining.
