DIY Egg Tumbler - Full of 3 Batches of African Cichlid Fry!

I did a version of this that worked great. Used the tube and top part from my siphon for my gravel, took out the filter from the top, added mesh to both parts, using a rubber band for the bottom, and ran my air line through. The eggs bounced happily. It cost me nothing as I had everything I needed at the house.

Sometimes it can be just as cheep on e bay, I got a really good one for £3 and 99p post & packing. the one I made myself got ripped to bits by my crab! all the eggs gone:( who would have known that little bugger could be so strong and clever. lesson learned.

yeah thats what i was thinking. there isn't much space for air to escape you could try punching some holes in the cap

i tried this out, didnt work very well, seems like the air pressure creates an airpocket at the top of the tube then it ust doesnt bubble correctly

Awesome vid! I'm a first time cichlid keeper and my powder blue socolofi is holding for the first time. I'm gonna let her spit naturally since this is her first time. She's isolated in a breeder net. After she spits, i'll feed her a day later then let her back in the main tank when she regains her strength.

mate he made it from his tank vac some stockings and an air pump, best not to think to much :-)

Cheese Puffs 99 no it's not, you can let the mum hold and let it be done naturally but she won't eat all the time she is holding. Hope this helps

if the fish is allready developed with an egg sack still attached you can get away with a small (5 or 10) gallon tank with a sponge filter and an air pump the stronger ones will start swimming around first and the smaller ones will lay on the bottom swirling around and will begin to gain strenght within a couple of days...
