Very nice setup. You you have great tech skills. One tip for anyone trying this. The Seasnake 24lb is about 10 pounds lighter. That with a 50ah lithium will get you about 4 hours of fun without much added weight and same max speed. I have both the seasnake and Newport motors for my kayak.

Nice set up. I converted a couple kayaks to boats by making a mount at the very back with the same trolling motor. I used the same battery too! I noticed you got the boat registration, which people need to remember. Was wondering how that would work on a SUP, but I see you make a "plaque" of sorts. Great idea.

You seem to be the right guy to ask this. I want to build a drop in rowing seat and paddle stand for use in my Kayake, Jon Boat and Paddle Board. I've seen them on line for crazy money. These companies think if you like to row, you graduated from an Ivy League school and you made of money. I don't use or even have a boat motor of any kind and at my age, the exercise is badly needed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hey, make a video!

now you need to register it and get a boaters card haha... good ol California for you.. anything motorized on water will need to be registered to dmv... its only like maybe 30 to 50 bucks i think for small crafts like this ... kinda dumb but that's the rules here lol ... i launch my inflatable boat with a 55 pound thrust 12v with a 100ah lifepO4 battery i can go easy 14 miles if i just go slow.. i launch south chula vista.... i recommend a lifep04 battery it will last you 15+ years ... also to get a your time usage you need to get a amp meter.. its easy to do.. all you need to do is a little division... so your battery is 30ah and say your motor is pulling 10amps at full power .. you just put a amp meter clamp over negative wire and it will show you how much amps its pulling.. so if it says 10amps at full power you divide your battery capacity 30ah to 10amps of it pulling at full power and you get 3 hours of use non stop at full lock power.. might get little under all depends on current wind weight ect... just a good guess how long it will last.. so if you get a 100ah lifep04 battery and your motor is pulling max 10 amps (100ah divide by 10amps) = 10 hours of full power non stop till the battery BMS shuts you off … i say give it 8 and a half just to be on the safe side to get back but I’m not sure you will be in the water for more then 8 hours lol ..

Nice, I was thinking to create a bicycle addon but this is better. Once concern though, the motor next to a paddle board does feel a bit unsave. One big wave, you fall, and I recon the toe or gingercutter 2000(tm) does it's work. Is this a valid concern?

How do you register a paddle board with a motor on it? Does the board come with a title and you take that to the DMV or is it much more complicated?

Hi, thanks for the video. How do you keep the paddle board going straight? On mine, it keeps going to the left and in circles...I mount my trolling motor on the right side.
@DoItYourselfDad2 жыл бұрын
With the motor mounted closer to the center (front to back) it tends to want to turn. What I noticed was you actually have to counter steer a bit to keep it straight (steering into the turn) due to where the motor is placed. Also, once up to speed the skeg/fin starts working more efficiently and keeping it straight.
