I know it's crazy. And I only used one third of the power that the motor is capable of. I tried out 12S and got to 25km/h but after a few seconds the voltage of the batteries was too low and the cables got hot. I think that a dual motor setup would be the best way to go so the controller doesn't need to be so expensive.

This thing looks Not Like a kit. He says that the Motor draws about 160 Amps and those batteries look like 8 or 10ah. Im guessing it could last 30 minutes or so on Full Power. As for cost, my guess would be 200-ish. At least those are the cost for those componets here in Germany .
@EOLAND993 жыл бұрын
So my 220Wh lipo and one motor with 3500W you can have a maximum of 4 min of full throttle in short bursts. I use my battery only for testing not for long duration. I'm hoping to find a more efficient propeller and the voltage needs to be increased, so the Amp draw is not over 100A for more efficency. In total I think a selfmade version with a good battery can be build with 700-1000€ with the board included. Difficult parts are the Propeller adapter and the motor mount on the fin.

I love this project, really cool! That 94mm prop is really big and will have massive drag. Considering this motor is 700kv, maybe a smaller prop with a greater pitch will allow the motor to spin faster and more efficiently. Increasing the cell count will do wonders also. Your motor can run on 18s, if I am not mistaken. As an old rule of thumb, a prop for submerged drive will have a diameter similar to the diameter of the motor, which in this case is 56mm. However, this motor is VERY powerful, so go for something like 70 - 75mm. The 56114 is also available in a 350kv version, which would be an even better option for this application. The 350kv version can take 130 volts, but requires a lot less current. Just a few thoughts...
@Eden_M5 жыл бұрын
Hey man you are correct and its cool to see somebody with alot of knowledge summing all these details in one single comments! My question for you is can I measure amp draw with clamp ammeter on 1 of the 3 phase wires of the motor? My ammeter is AC only, can't measure current draw coming from the battery. Thanks!
@remkojerphanion46865 жыл бұрын
@@Eden_M I have never measured current using one those clamp meters, but it should be possible. Wattmeters are inexpensive and I find them useful. On my RC boats with submerged drive prop, I check the current draw with the boat held still to get an idea of what the motor is pulling and to make sure the whole package is not overloaded. Only then will I run the boat and experiment with slightly different diameter props and/or different pitch. All the while I keep a close eye on temperature of all components. I try to be methodical in my approach, for example taking notes for comparison later on. Stick with it Eden, and your project will succeed! Good luck!
@EOLAND995 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I think the 350kv motor will be better suited for 12S, but I will torture my 700kv motor untill it brakes. I tried a 70mm 4 bladed Propeller with 0,8*70mm Pitch (7008). It was with 6S and worked pretty good but I thought it was too slow so I made the video with the 9408 propeller. However I lost the propeller in the lake and now I'm waiting for a new 9412 propeller. Here you can see a thrust, power to RPM chart of the 7008 Propeller: ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1GNXjTAPoK1RjSZKbq6x1IXXa0.jpg Here for the 7012 Propeller: ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1I.pGTxnaK1RjSZFtq6zC2VXay.jpg Here for the 9408 Propeller: ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1T.plTpzqK1RjSZFvq6AB7VXaL.jpg And here for the 9412 Propeller: ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1yqlhTAzoK1RjSZFlq6yi4VXaY.jpg So with the new Propeller (9412) and 6S I hope its possible to tow a wakeboarder. Or on 12S to get as fast as possible, put some wings on it and 2x4kw of Air Propellors and motors and fly in ground effect...

Hey man nice build clean and simple and it looked wicked fast. I think you will be happy with 12s cause your amp draw will go way down. What size prop did you use? It needs to be inside a mortar nozzle to increase efficiency and also to protect the rider and anyone in the water from the prop. My first build had a prop and no killswitch and I have the scars to remind me of it. I use only jet pumps now as props make me very nervous. However I plan on building an e foil soon so your set up looks like it will work well fir an e foil you were planing as soon as you hit the throttle Nice job congrats on a successful build Cheers Frankie
@EOLAND995 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) I used a prop with a 70mm diameter but during a second test it unscrewed itself while braking and sunk to the bottom of the lake. So i ordered an 188mm diameter propeller since i'm not worried about the motor overheating. The pitch is higher but i hope it will work anyways without too much cavitation. I think a mortar will add quite some drag and my goal is to reach speeds over 50km/h. If i have a good working motor propeller combination i want to put is on a hydrofoil too :)
@DIYjetboards5 жыл бұрын
Despereaux Well that sucks losing your prop. Next time drill a hole through the prop shaft in front of the nut and put a cotter pin through it. So 180 mm from 70mm big jump ....you looked like you were going. Pretty quick in this video 180 will either fly or shake itself to bits. But hey it’s worth it if it flies🤙🏼 probably too much prop for a hydrofoil though. If you want a great cheap hydrofoil kit check out clear water hydrofoils he has a wood black kit with mast,board mount, fuselage, and the front and rear wings for $139 usd I believe. You have to glass it all up and it’s a lot of fiberglass work but pretty cheap and since you will be modifying any foil you buy why not do all your wiring etc and them glass it into the mast etc . If you don’t want to do a lot of glass work he sells a foil that has an aluminum mast and fuselage and composite wing and foil and I think that’s about $550 usd so not too bad. I got one of the wood blank kits. As soon as I have finished the double pumper twin jet powered board I’m currently building then the hudrofoil is my next build. I should be testing the double pumper this weekend and I’ll post a video after the test food or bad lol. Looking forward to seeing your 50kmh board. Good luck Btw what inflatable board are you using.
