Your belt is slipping when you slow down because you probably have a cheap pulley kit from china which is usually 3m. You need a 5m belt and pulley setup. Also wider belt and pulleys is better since there is more contact area for the belt. Good luck!

Have you considered using a BLDC motor comparable to the one you use for the longboard as a 1 kilowatt CNC spindle? I've been contemplating the practicality of such a system, and would love to here your input. It seems like it would offer higher power with higher torque potentially for cheaper.

Nice, I used similar electronics for my build, only I used a keda 190kv 6364 motor from hobbyking and two 3000mah 3s lipos in series. It has plenty of torque, and I have climbed 20% hills on it, and the top speed is limited by the esc to 20mph. It cost me about £200 to build.

I don't understand it too, that's how they call it, I wanted to be clear about that. Maybe it's because you can't use it as any other ESC for example for a drone and that's why it's called substitute. Thanks!

Great video. For cost effective battery, consider Hoverboard (aka Balance Board) Battery pack. It contains 20 cells of 18650 with a BMS, and outputs 20A continuous, it is a 10S2P setup, so 42v fully charged, roughly 800 watts of power. They can be found on Ebay (with Samsung / LG cells) for around 30USD. You can reposition cells for "slim look" pretty easily too. Amazing video. keep it up!
@StuckoTu5 жыл бұрын
I have a similar project, but I don't know how to connect the charger to the battery. Do I need the motherboard of the hoverboard to charge it safely or there is integrated overcharge protection in the charger itself?

I want to build my battery out of LG 18650 cells, I already have all of them and I will make 6S 3P pack, I don't have a spot welder so I need to figure out how to connect those together :) 42V is way to much for this ESC, I have a version that can handle up to 7S battery :( Thanks!

For having safer brakes you can buy a VESC, plus you will have more control over you acceleration and max speed. This make the skate much more smoother to ride. I had a similar esc before and it worth the upgrade. If you decide to buy one, you will need to buy seperately a remote, a battery metter and a switch.
