I built an electric skateboard!

Building an electric skateboard is something my brother and i have always wanted to do, since we were able to use ryobi batteries, we were able to do this for only $400! (not including the motor we ended up taking out)

Not that it was intentional, but the way you built this with a much bigger wheel in the back prevents speed wobbles by a significant amount. Since it doesn’t turn in the back it’s super stable. Someone needs to make this a production board. I NEED it.

A board that cheap from a manufacturer probably wouldn't go much faster than 15mph.

@@noka7776it’s true that it won’t go as fast but you can get way more than 5miles of range from a $400 board. I’d even bet you could even get a board with over 500 watt motors and then getting a high top speed is all about wheel size and gearing. That being said, for less than $1000, you can get a board that out performs theirs out of the box.

Very Awesome guys! Since you have extra cash it wont hurt to buy 2 more extra drill. Put a 2.5mm Drill on one and a Screw driver on the other one so that you dont have to break stuff when disassembling. Even a 2x2 Inch piece of wood is usefull on many DIY builds.

15 years ago I cut down a used $20 electric scooter and made the same skateboard. Just used a momentary switch on cord. 15mph is a bit faster then running. Low fat tire in the back looked kinda cool.
