Those gaps are there to allow flexing while driving when going over uneven surfaces etc. We have almost the same trailer ours is a little longer. A friend of ours who also races redid the inside of theirs but it up the boards next to each other and the first time they traveled with the trailer the walls became a heck of a mess. Chipping, cracked some boards, etc. One board had a huge blowout. They had to redo the interior. The boards that didn't break they just cut what is in essence and expansion joint but it's for flexing not expanding

That was awesome. Mini Ashley and mini Doug pitched right in too😃 Great way to teach the kids to paint, they looked so cute helping. You have extended the life of the interior by painting it so it was more than just a cosmetic job. You definitely increased its resale value. The reflectex is perfect for the ceiling to reflect light around and keep it bright. It will definitely help keep the heat down. Install a big wall mounted fan in the tongue to get some air flow blowing out the back door and push the heat out. The heavier trim pieces will be convenient for hooks to hang stuff from. I love the exposed bolts and conduit too. Keep your eye out at Habitat restore for industrial rubber floor tiles or get a couple rubber backed rugs for the doorways. Trailer floors always rot at the doors first. Really excited to see it all set up. Seriously impressed with your ingenuity, creativeness, attention to detail and common sense!! Rock on...👍👏🔨🪚🔧🪛🧰

Some may see your quest for esthetics in a workshop as being a bit on the frivolous side. I see you using power tools every day. I see you working long hard hours every day. I see you trying to build a solid, honest beautiful house every day. Having a pleasant area to work in beats a chaotic, ever moving, do the best you can, any day. Much less difficult, low aggravation, tired but satisfied at the end of the day.

all that flimsy trim was probably just to keep the weight down- even the gaps that were hidden would contribute to keeping the weight down, which would normally be important for a trailer. You have such great vision and I am sure that even after the workshop is moved to a permanent building, you will be able to place this trailer anywhere on your property and it will make an awesome den or gamesroom or bunkie. I LOVE it! ( I think I would keep it as a stealth workshop though! how awesome to be able to bring the tools to the job and keep everything dry and tidy!).

Those colors look really ...as you said....clean together and wow has transformed the inside of that trailer. For a work shop , I mean who wouldn't want to have a workshop that looks that good and for just pennies on the dollar. What about a peg board with hooks to hang up just your basic tools and color coat them . oh I don't know. I think that having a place to keep all of your tools put up in, organized fashion is a good idea. Ashley will be ready to have it all out so the house can start to take shape and feel more like a home. Thanks for all

FYI the large gap is usually put in the trailers on purpose for the flex of the trailer and a filler put over the top to still allow the trailer to flex as it's pulled down the road
@VeilZuTun2 жыл бұрын
Most people: ah, let's just staple the insulation to the ceiling and call it good. Doug: I want to make sure this is as practical as possible, and also aesthetically looks good. And this is why I enjoy this channel so much. It's the detail over the little things that give Doug and Ashley such great looking projects. For example: for personal reasons I really hate the colour brown when used artificially (brown in nature I'm fine with), but adding those silver screw heads to break it up worked really nicely. The details are such that it took me beyond that almost phobia I have with the colour. So while it's not something I could do, I really appreciate the end look and logic behond the choices. ❤ Stay safe, everyone.

As a family that drives A Mod and B mod dirt track cars.. also dirt bikes and side by sides.. that trailer isn’t built bad (besides the top screws) the gaps are made like that in case your trailer gets in a bind or deep holes off road.. that way it has give and doesn’t break the plywood..
