Hot to make aquarium external filter using two jars like Canister filter.
Subscribe : goo.gl/J4sgjG
In this video you will see two filter constructions with the same material. What is different is only in the input and output sections.
First, the filter media is placed in the inlet while the submersible pump is placed in the outlet section. Power head works to take (suck) water from containers that have filter media.
Second, the filter media is placed in the outlet section and the pump is placed in the outlet section. Power head works to push water into the container with filter media.
NOTE:
This is just an experiment, you can change all filter media and their arrangement based on your experience and your own method.
Materials needed:
1. Plastic jars
2. Aquarium transparent pipe
3. Pipe and hose connector
4. Ring verlop
5. Plastic hose
6. Duck end connector
7. Seal tape (Optional)
8. Submersible power head Yamana WP-77 (220-240 VAC/ 600L/H 5 Watt
9. Epoxy glue (strong and waterproof)
10.Plastic faucet

You made too much work for yourself. The pump in the tank with a prefilter would eliminate the need for the entire first container.

Great job. You nearly doubled the water by maybe a quart or another litter. I believe the first one is better than the second cause the first one looks like it's creating negative pressure so there is less chance of a leak while the second one is creating positive pressure and might lead to a premature leak.

Nice concept for a DIY filter. Might I suggest one larger canister containing everything to reduce risk of leak or failure with two canisters, and needing to join them together.

Funny, my laptop speakers totally misses the bass line in the music track. Here is a free tip. I would suggest you put the power head output as the last thing in line to the outlet pipe. This pulls in the water from the tank and keeps negative pressure in the system reducing stress and possibility of leak when media clogging occurs. As for flow, the water should come in at the base of the unit, put standoffs and bioballs as a primary sludge settlement. Above the standoff section, coarse, medium and fine pad. Last in the path should be your biological before the water is pushed out the outlet. Biological media should always have just mechanically filtered water hitting it. Cool though. Where did find the connectors, adapters, pipes and pump?

The only issue with this filter is if in a fishtank with detritus/sand etc the unfiltered water goes through the pump and then to the filtering media, something simple to protect the pump would be a small wall dividing the inlet connection and the pump and adding mechanical filtration before water is received into pump. this would allow the second outlet jar to house more biological media or more mechanical to polish the water.

Itu sebetulnya 1 tabung saja tapi tabungnya yg agak tinggi lagi biar lebih banyak nampung media filter nya, & head pump nya dlm aquarium nyedot air didorong ke lubang bawah tabung dan outputnya lubang atas yg pipanya menuju aquarium jadi tidak kebanyakan pipa yg terpasang & kelihatan lebih Ringkas, tapi media filter terpenuhi spt bio ring, bio ball, karbon aktif, bio form, & Jap mat, kapas masing2 1 lembar jadi 1 tabung, cuma Pipa bening input & output yg ditabung nya saya buat permanen krn saya Lem pvc, terus kritik saya tabung satunya itu hanya terisi air yg nandon (tanpa diapa apain) kemudian disedot langsung dikeluarkan ke aquarium, maaf saya bukan menggurui tapi saya hanya beri saran sesuai apa yg saya punyai malah tabung plastik yg saya pakai bekas teko air minum yg tinggi kira2 40cm diameter 15cm saya umpetin dibelakang aquarium..

@@quantumhelix8668 i was thinking the other day to go completely to another level. Like mold and resin a strong bucket for DIY filter. Try to go full way proffesional filter
@charistech
@charistech 4 жыл бұрын
@@quantumhelix8668 the 2 reasons i can think for anyone to do a DIY filter is to either make it cheap and affordable and the second reason is parts. I saw and met many people whom bought external filter, them the filter had a part brake down and because the filter was discontinued, there were no parts available to fix the filter. Its a huge benefit for DIY and its a worthwhile investement. I think a shared idea or template for everyone to use would be the best. Like a 3D print model or shared blueprint across an aquarium community would benefit all of us.
