I noticed in one of your replies that you said that you used fat quarters and they were 28"x22". Fat Quarters are 18"x22", will they still work for the fan pattern? What are the overall pattern dimensions? And I certainly thank you for providing such a concise and well spoken tutorial. Very clearly presented!

Hello!! thank you for making this video! it's so hard to find tutorials on fan-making using fabric. I do have a couple questions because I really want to make some fans. I was wondering where you bought your black staves from. Are the staves you use made out of bamboo or plastic?

great tutorial! would hot glue work for glueing the fabric?
@TheOpticallusion2 жыл бұрын
They said in the video that hot glue left a solid ridge that made folding/ closing the fan difficult
@hahahahaahhahahaahah3 жыл бұрын
thank you so much for this!!!! does anyone know if there is a machine that can do the folding? I want to sell these
@salahumer Жыл бұрын
Hi, this would be a single sidedd fan (with the fabric pattern on one side ). It would be eassier to glue the fabric , just by folding it in equal size, showing pattern on each side of the fan. Also looks better if it is a double sided fan with same of may be different fabric or pattern.

Love this tutorial. Would Mod Podge work just as well to glue the fabric to the stave? Thanks!
@BlackUnicornCreations6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if Mod Podge would be strong enough to hold the fabric, but I have not tried it myself. If you do try it, please let me know how it turns out! Vice versa if I try it out, I'll let you know.
@DarkMoonDroid5 жыл бұрын
That would be a great experiment. If you do both sides, you may try really soaking it in MP and after it is dried stiff, use something almost sharp to set in the creases. Try a cheap one and see what happens.
@moondreams8765 жыл бұрын
Mod Podge do a version for Fabric which should work perfectly.

@BlackUnicornCreations5 жыл бұрын
We used fat quarters that you can buy single or in bundles where most fabric is sold. So I think those are typically like 28" x 22"

Is there a way to add the fabric to both sides or does it not fold right?
@abbattoirnoises5 жыл бұрын
Ruben Rodriguez I added fabric to both sides and it’s perfectly fine
@BlackUnicornCreations5 жыл бұрын
Good question, we didn't try that. All fans I have ever seen pretty much have a "front" and "back" so I assume it may impact the folding, but perhaps if your material is thin enough, it would work.
@abbattoirnoises5 жыл бұрын
Black Unicorn Creations i made a double sided fan with crushed velvet and it looks amazing. So I think as long as the fabric isn’t too too thick it should be fine!!

Measure stave, get push pin, yarn, and pen. Draw half circle with rope at length of measurement. It's so easy to make a half circle patter. This method was far too complicated for measuring two half circles. Lol.
