Hi! So I made these, and they worked out great. I made so many and they were super simple and affordable, but I have one warning. DO NOT use Mod-Podge or a similar PVA glue to coat it, because once it dries it's very thin and doesn't stick to the pin. When you glue your safety pin on, it will come off very easily and peal away the paint/sharpie. So after I fixed my pins up, I used varnish to seal them, and it worked fine. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who had the same idea. ❤️

The hot glue method is genius! I've tried to find #6 plastic all over my house and the only kind I could find was a small cup lol and I definite don't feel like going out and buying the shrink sheets. Definitely going to try the hot glue ! Thanks!

I used to make little pins for either people's birthdays or just as presents or just for me. I just used to draw out the design on paper, cut it out, cover it with sellotape and stick a safety pin on the back with more tape.

I’m about 2 years late, but if you use the shrink plastic that’s sort of... rough, i guess (it’s called frosted) you trace the designs on the smooth side and you can use colored pencil, marker, or paint on the “frosted” side. The colors will turn out darker if you use anything other than marker, and you have to mod podge the rough side after shrinking.

Those are so cool I really love the last technique haven't seen that one before. I have also made a video on how to make pins like these (I made some Logan/Wolverine inspired pins) and I used a laminating machine, that is also a fun way of making them. I've used Sharpies before to colour in the design and it works the same as other perm markers.... plus they're easier to get in a wide range of colours

i made mine with the no. 6 plastic, and it worked really well! The only downside is that the plastic sometimes warps in the way that it expands in one direction (like for example if you put in a perfect square theres a chance youd get a rectangle at the end) but everything else is okay

For the shrink plastic, you can also use #6 plastic, you don’t really have to buy shrinking paper, with the #6 plastic it’s the exact same steps

Hey just a friend note if you don't have a hot glue gun or don't feel like using one you can get this super strong glue called E-6000 you can get it at most craft stores. Its basically liquid cement. it dries clear but you should probably wait overnight before wearing the pin so the glue can set properly.

With the second method instead of using the sheet protector you can use wax paper, It works a better when peeling the glue up.
