I love how your window turned out. I have seen a lot of various foam board projects on YT. When I purchased my house the previous owners left a whole bunch of it along with cherry wood paneling, all kinds of tiles and other building materials. I think he must of did home remodeling and construction. He built a super cool treehouse; my grandkids love it. Very well made. I could see doing something like this to the windows. They were moving out of state so they left quite a bit of stuff which some I have already found use for as I love up-cycling. I do wall murals and I like the 3D effects.

Wow, looks like you found some treasure. A treehouse is a dream come true for my kids and me. My trees wouldn’t be able to accommodate that, lol. I have a willow and lots of cedars and junipers.
@tinaknutsen2 ай бұрын
@@rnguyen2516 Yes, the previous owners left behind some treasures…as a child my brothers and sisters we would go make forts out in the woods that surrounded us. Nothing extravagant; it was more like Little Rascals hunting for scraps. I remember our friends that lived a block down..their dad built them a pretty cool tree house..and had always dreamed of having one. But quite honestly this treehouse needs some and if I could do it myself I would but my arthritis in my hands has gotten pretty bad. So hopefully can round up my sons to help which is difficult due to work schedules and distance. By the way you have the same last name as one of my daughter in laws.

This is so amazing! May I please get the pdf or printable? I’m using it for a school project. Have you considered using a hot knife or hot pen to cut the foam? Your artistry and level of detail are unmatched. May I ask what your background is? Your drawings were so good. I loved the bevel. Wow. I like the idea of scotch brite sponges for wood grain. I’ve seen people use rock or balls of foil to create distress to make a stone effect. The command hooks, linch pins and stained glass liner were brilliant. Thank you so much!

Your compliments are really humbling. 🙏🤘 I’ll try to get around to posting the template soon - many have asked and I plan to offer wood versions in kits and fully finished for interior use made from wood. I grew up wanting to be a fine artist- drawing every day, got into other hobbies like shooting film and photography / editing videos for surf & skate as a teenager, doing automotive repair as a side hustle, received my BA degree from Academy of Art, SF in graphic design. Worked as a designer of corporate branding, apparel, and then creative director of wine labels for the 20 years following college. I’m going to look into the hot knife now! I haven’t considered it and must’ve missed key tool 😂 I also like the idea of the rocks or foil for wood grain… thanks for pointing those out!

@@SeizetheDIY Thank you so much for replying! A lot of creators don't and can't take the time to respond, and I totally respect that. It is so nice that you do. You have a really well-rounded background, and I appreciate you sharing! When I re-watched your video, I was amazed by your drawings. So good so it got me curious if you had studied art. I always admire those who are artistic and create so well. It's one thing to think of something in your head and another to construct it, lol. I was a project manager at Ogilvy and got to work with some amazing art directors. It's really cool that you got to work in so many facets of the creative world. I got the idea of rolling foil or a rock over the pink foam (XPS foam) to create a stone texture from the KZbin channel Black Magic Craft in a video called "How to make Stone Arch Dungeon Doors out of XPS Foam). Those D&D people really know what they're doing, lol. Anyway, in his bio under "Essentials," he links a tabletop hot wire cutter named Proxxon and Hercules--he says just get the one that is a better deal. He also recommends a handheld on Amazon from GOCHANGE. I've only personally cut EPS foam with a handheld hot wire cutter, but I can't wait to use the XPS foam. It's so much more malleable, it looks like. But just make sure that you have windows open and have some good ventilation. It cuts like butter. I hold my handheld straight up and down and take my time. Of course, it depends on the application. For the amount of work you do with foam, you'd get your return on investment quickly. The tabletop ones are $125-150. I would definitely say you are missing a KEY tool, lmao! The handheld one is $25. So much talent out here on KZbin (and elsewhere but I stick to KZbin and Pinterest for my social media fixes). Also check out VanOaksProps channel. I was watching his video on how to make a medieval torch prop. He used a Dremel rotary tool to make wood grain on his EPS torch handle. I'm working on a medieval castle backdrop for my son's hallway at school and wanted to incorporate your window idea (but mine won't turn out as epic as yours, lol). I just make decor for doors, halls and music programs, but I love creating 3D backdrops that can be used again and again. Anyway, I've subscribed to your channel and am excited to check out the rest of your videos!

Disposable box cutter (with the slider on the handle to extend or retract the blade) works best for cutting that foam, I've found. Thier like $0.99, and you get smooth cuts, so you don't have to smooth out all the places where the blade snags on the material afterwards. I use tape wrapped around the top of the handle to keep the blade from sliding, but that could prob be avoided by buying better quality ones.
