You can also use (crumpled tissue paper) for a leather look on a surface (coffee table for example) by hodge podging smoothed out crumpled tissue paper on the service then painting color of your choice and painting like you did. If you want just stripes of a leather look, take masking tape and lay it on a service you want to cover, paint it whatever color, then wipe off. We used to do it on flower pots and cover with pieces of masking tape to cover the whole pot then paint (then stain to get that leather look).:

Lone Fox does a great faux leather chair re-do on a thrifted chair and it is totally FAB. He uses fabric softener too but different proportions. He has a couple links in his description box. I totally adore your sofa, and agree it looks totally hugh end, cause I was looking for one like that and couldn't even afford Ikea's low prices. Now what you paid for yours is totally my kinda budget. Time to start looking for some furniture to refurb. TFS

This turned out beautifully ❤️ However, I can still hope that more people will release themselves from the shackles of the latex paint+softener method and embrace the more eco-friendly method of using chalk paint & wax sealant method for a leather look finish (which is actually a better technique also)... and embrace some of the smaller women-owned indie chalk paint brands which are AMAZING (and can use the support and visibility) instead of defaulting to huge brands. 🥺Now let me get out these comments before I fall off my pedestal and hurt myself, honey 🤣🤣
