Neither hand or machine sewing is too troublesome, even as a beginner, if you’re using them for the right things. Machine sewing is for boring seams, with strong even stitches. Hand sewing is for awkward stuff that doesn’t get seen. It’s when you’re attempting to use them for the opposite purpose, for whatever reason, that is heading into “aww crap, this is difficult” aka requires practice territory.
