As a beginner sewer, I have watched quite a number of videos. Jan is BY FAR the BEST instructor. She is easy to understand and does not assume you know things! THANK YOU!!

I love it! “In this area it’s a little sketchy, it’s pretty close to the seam”. My exact words, you are so relatable and an incredible instructor. Great work!!!

Thank you so much. I appreciate how well you took the time through every step. I make Mittens from sweaters and learned a couple of tips. Putting a pin for the right and wrong side is a great idea.

Watching this 11 months later, Dec ‘23. ❤ Will make these this week. Learned to hold my thread so it doesn’t bunch. Also to use a binder clip to guide big spool thread. Game changers for me. Thanks

Jan you did it AGAIN. You always seem to post a tutorial on a project I need that very day! I spent an hour yesterday online shopping for a flip top pair of gloves or mittens for our "cold snap" of 55° here in Southern California.. do not laugh, is cold fer my area and my fingers. I did not buy anything, way to much money for the ten days a year I need them but you saved the day again. Fleece on sale for $3.99 a yard. Four pairs will be on their way as soon as I get the pattern. Thanks again.

I loved your video. I admit, I couldn't figure out the pattern. You're an excllent teacher. Thanks I loved making them. My next pair will be a whole lot better. I olan on adding a pouch on the palm to put hand warmers inside the mitten.

Thank you for this pattern, Jan, and the helpful tutorial. It's hard to find ready made flip top mittens. I will be buying the pattern. Quick question; can the top of the thumb be sewn shut or is there a specific reason why you have it open? Perhaps you are thinking of those who text with their thumbs - I don't! Thank you again.
@JanHowell Жыл бұрын
I suppose you could make the thumb piece longer and sew a curve around the tip of the thumb. Fingerless mitts usually have the thumb tip exposed for dexterity in whatever you are doing. Let me know if you try it.

@@JanHowell Hi Jan. I've had a couple pairs of RTW flip mittens and none of them had exposed thumbs. I attended a sewing retreat last weekend and extended the length of thumb by a half inch at most. They worked out perfect for me. Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for sharing. Alot of ppl at the shelter will be glad to have these during the cold winter months. Question- I ended up sewing RIGHT handed gloves. Do you have any tip on how to make the LEFT glove-Although I switch the THUMB to the left,, it still makes a RIGHT glove- any help will be greatly appreciated

I've done this before too. So frustrating. I give specific instructions using safety pins to keep that from happening again. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnqpfotjarSGra8si=WAa29xoFJA2EjuIf&t=95
