Thanks Subhahini. Tha main advantage of using chalk paint is it doesn't need any surface preparation. So no need for sanding or priming

Savitha: in regard to the yellow spots showing through the white paint - it is called a bleed through. It occurs due to tannins in the wood coming through. So what you have to do is first apply stain blocking primer (I use Zinsser or General Finishes). You can also use shellac spray. I use two coats to make sure there is no bleed through. After this you can use any colour paint, even white. If you see yellow spots, just adding more paint is not going to fix it. You have to use a stain block first. I hope this helps you.
