I show the installation of a floating desk using a butcherblock from Home Depot and brackets from Amazon. I also added a power strip and grommet to keep the power cords all organized. I was surprised at how sturdy it is when all attached. The brackets claimed they hold 100lbs each and I must say they do a great job. If you are looking to add a desk but do not have a lot of space or need to maintain floor space like I did then give this option a try. #computerdesk #floatingdesk #gamingdesk #butcherblockdesk #spacesaver #deskinstall

Thanks for the comment. I didn’t know anything about doing all of this and it is very encouraging to hear! We will be showing more on the job installs and an insight to what we do. Thanks for watching from Brazil. What would you be most interested in seeing?

@@SchiffersCustomCabinetry Very good! Friend I'd love to see any custom woodworking and carpentry work you post. I also have great admiration for buildings. I saw that you work a lot with wood. Here we work more with bricks, blocks and cement throughout the construction, but I am passionate about the style of North American wooden houses. I keep following your new videos, big hug.

Great work! Thanks for the idea fix a piece of wood on the back wall first. Do you mind to share the bracket purchase link in the description? If possible could you please share the nail and but size and length too? Thank you very much.

I’ll see if I can figure that out! I used 3” GRK screws to screw to the wall.

What are the dimensions of the top and the wood brace attached to the wall? Should I use 1x4 or 2x4

The top is off the shelf from Home Depot and is 2” thick. I just used the cut off from the top as the piece attached to the wall but if you have a 1x4 it will work just fine.

I want to make a 20" by 46" desktop. 3/4" glued edge pine. The longest bracket I can find is 16". What do you recommend? Thank you for replying most do not.

@@sscalf31 we are currently making a 2” think white oak floating desk 24” deep and the longest bracket we could find are 16” deep as well. Fortunately it is going to a wall so I decided to notch the bottom of the desk and am going to screw a 1” metal box tube to the wall that we can secure the desk to. It is a commercial project and I do not want a sagging issue so that is what I came up with. If it is sagging you may have to add or change out to a more supported bracket like an angle bracket.

I'm also thinking if I use a 2x4 ledger that would reduce the depth supported by the brackets to 18.5 or reduce total top depth to 18"

Nice work! I'm currently trying to do an L shaped floating desk using two pieces of butchers blocks. Running into issues securing brackets to the wall. Thinking I should be using lag screws. Was screws that came with bracket that have metal anchors but they don't seem to be catching the studs. One alternative was to put 2x4s on the wall for extra support. Thoughts?

We attach a lot of floating shelves and have found using a cleat or block to secure the brackets is the way to go. Otherwise the brackets will collapse the drywall.

@@SchiffersCustomCabinetry Thanks. I actually did use the blocks to secure the heavy duty brackets. So far so good. Thanks so much for the reply.
