DIY Floating Rock Water Feature

Add a touch of nature to your deck, balcony, or yard with this easy-to-build floating rock in a flowerpot water feature. This unique fountain will give a sense of calm for both you and the birds.
This DIY project came to life because birds have flocked to my DIY in-ground stacked rock bubbler (you can see that DIY in my Shorts tab), but it is a chore to clean. I wanted to create a water feature that was portable and had the same feel and look of a freshwater spring. I am in love with how beautiful it turned out. The best part is that it is easy to maintain and clean for the bird's health.

This is incredibly timely! We just moved and I’ve been want to make a fountain for our hummingbird, finches and other birds. It’s HOT in Arizona so I know the birds will appreciate it. I've subscribed, pressed the like button, and watched this video at least 10 times. I've gathered my 1/2 tubing, a basket, pump, diamond drill bit, and found my flagstone yesterday at a landscape shop with a huge yard of piles and piles of flagstone (very nice people).. As soon as I find an appropriate pot I will attempt to build this. Love your channel. You are obviously an informed bird-lover. Thanks for what you do.

Did you check inside the solar pump's housing for a flow adjuster? I finally (like, paused this and finally opened the box before coming back to this) grabbed mine out of the box and didn't see an external adjustment, but I popped off the housing and there was a basic slide control. :) I did a rudimentary 'test' of the thing (and it's a solar w/a battery) in a storage tub, too...long, kinked tube and it was pumping a gentle stream, will let it run today and night to get a general idea. Going to repurpose an Ikea farmhouse sink into a fountain like this one! I appreciate the tutorial! :)

That sounds like a fun basin to put it in. Link me on the video if you make one. Yes, I opened the housing, there was what looked like where a flow adjustment part but they didn't add it. The outside casing didn't have the openings to support. Design fail. I love the concept of solar, but don't like that many don't work on cloudy days or in the shade. This one had a battery pack, but the charge only lasted two hours at night. My main concern with solar is the stagnate water at night in summer could invite mosquitoes to it. Using mosquito dunks would help. Good luck on your project. :) I just posted a DIY rock fountain video if you want more ideas.

For Mother’s Day, my son bought me a fountain and on the top part it’s a bubbler unfortunately I haven’t put it out yet, but your videos are so inspiring. I’ve got to set this fountain out for the birds.

How do I keep the water clean. I live in The Villages Florida and have a fountain that needs to be cleaned all the time. I use non-bleach “shock” powder but it doesn’t stop the black and green growth.

Someone recommended to use a UVC Pump which I'm going to try next year. It uses UV light to control algae and bacteria.

Mine will be kind of a cross between this and the stacked rock water feature you did earlier. I have sort of a huge planter so I'm using a 5 gallon bucket and a large planter saucer that sits on top for the birdbath and will plant creeping Jenny and other plants around the edges. What size was the tube you used in this video and the rock water feature?

What type of rock is that? It is the perfect rock with the bowl shape in the middle.
