This was so instructive -- I find it particularly helpful that you do a pencil sketch of what you're going to paint. It's really useful to have that to refer back to along the way, especially when I feel a bit stuck. I love using my watercolor paper scraps to make bookmarks, as it's a great, low-stakes way to practice new techniques. Thanks for the inspiration!
@Nianiani4 жыл бұрын
No worries! Yea I always feel bad throwing away scrap paper, so I still like to use them to either create tiny cards or for colour swathes and trials also :))

These are enchanting, Nia!!! Thank you so much!!! I've learnt tons of techniques from you. Bless you!!! I have a request. Please can you put together all the beautiful flowers you've done so far to paint a flower garden along all 4 borders of a card? I'm always hunting for ways to do that and I'm sure you'll do a miraculous job. Your florals are the best I've ever seen!

Oooh, these bookmarks are as gorgeous as ever. It's interesting to see the differences in the two, especially looking back and seeing how much fuller these bookmarks look compared to the old ones, even though there's still plenty of negative space. And I am happy to say I do not particularly miss the music-only videos, LOL. It is always so soothing to listen to your voice. XD

Hahaha I get that a lot for some reason. Believe me, I don't sound that serene in real life, it's really the mic xD but I'm happy that people somewhat find me voice relaxing to listen to? O.o It is kind of weird looking back at the paintings. But always fun to re-do some old stuff :D

@@NianianiHi, greetings from S Africa. Never seen your work before and am mesmerised. Just love it all, such wonderful tips for the different flowers, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work. I hope I can find your other tutorials because after a year of illness I kind of lost what little skill and the enthusiasm I had but seeing your work I feel a lot more confident and hope to get back to my paints. My son gave me a rather large financial present to buy some new art stuff and I was thrilled to see you use Holbein paints. I bought the full set of colours to see which worked for me. I just love them so much now I can put them to good use. Thank you so much *◇* X

I love the roses. Blue is my fav colour and rarely see blue roses on art tutorials. These are beautiful. First video of yours that I have ever watched and I will be subscribing now to your channel. Am from a family of avid readers so these are the perfect gift :) I was looking at the colours you used as a few of them I'd not heard of before (I'm really new to this), but you don't seem to have many listed in the description. Like the greens for example, I'm sure you had 3-4, but none listed. Sorry if you have a system.for listing paints that I'm not understanding. I love the look of the mineral violet colour, really complements the blue in the roses. Will put it on my 'colours to buy next' list. What a blessing your video popped up today. The sparkly shoreline is next on my list to watch! Thank you in advance for all that I'll learn from you.
@Nianiani4 жыл бұрын
Hi! That's so awesome that you're going to create these as gifts! The colours that I've used are all mentioned in the video, I usually swatch them all down, but because this was already a very long video, I decided to skip on the swatches, since I already mentioned them in the tutorial. The list in the description box is only for the brands that I used incase anyone would like to get the same. So basically I just wrote down the colours which I used that is not from my main palette which is Holbein :)) I hope you have fun painting along to them and have a great day! ^__^

I know that my main issue is my paintbrush. I have one and it was a pricey fancy one where the bristles are shaped like a triangle so it could mimic three brushes in one. However, it’s years old and it’s frayed and had “touch ups” to keep the bristles in working condition. I know that poor brush is the reason my colours go wonky sometimes but I just love that weird little brush too much to get rid of it. I’ve never seen another one so it may have been some kinda limited edition brush. Perhaps I should get a few new ones to help even out the burden of the detail work for the poor old thing

I'm just now learning to do water color. Can you tell me which colors to be careful NOT to mix? I don't want them to turn into mud! :-)
@Nianiani4 жыл бұрын
Ooo how exciting. Well.. colour theory is a bit complex than that.. technically you can mix any colours together, but colours which would create brown (I'm guessing this is what you mean by muddy?) would be opposite colours, such as blue and orange, purple and yellow, red and green. I actually mix these colours a lot because I like muted colours xD I would probably recommend for you to try painting with just 3 colours first (blue yellow and red - primary) to get a better understanding of colour mixing, because it can be quite intimidating to suddenly use a lot of new colours all at once to understand colour theory :)) Hope this helps!! Wish you the best with watercolours :D
