I love this dress! I want to make it. I have a little experience sewing and have followed your tutorials very successfully in the past. I feel like this tutorial is a little vague, unless I can find a giant dress to copy your "pattern". I wish you had added alittle more detail on how you cut the skirt. The instructions seem overly simple. I will try it and cross my fingers it turns out.

how much larger did you make the skirt so that it would over lap appropriately? I don't want to cut my material too small.

She was just keeping a skirt that already existed & cutting it to fit her waist at the top. If you don't have the same level of sewing experience & the same body shape as she does, you might be better off just buying a pattern & following those instructions. You need to understand the basics of garment construction & how to ensure it fits your particular body shape (eg the additional allowances for wider/narrower body parts or longer/shorter body parts). This experience will help you figure out how to adjust almost anything you buy. Best wishes.
