Instead of wheels, think of this. Make leveling feet. Get a 2”x2” plates, threaded 1” long round insert and large diameter bolt that matches the threads of the insert and 2 nuts. Drill hole into plate and then weld threaded insert flush with plate. Weld plate to bottom of uprights. Next is making the foot plates. Weld a nut to the middle of the plate and screw in the large diameter bolt and weld bolt in place. Now you can screw that foot plate into the threaded insert. Unfold the rack and unscrew the foot plate by hand or use a wrench on the nut til it makes solid contact with the ground.

Hey man I like what you did, nice project!! For wheels I would use locking caster wheels, you know the ones you can lock with your foot, that would give you more security. For holes I recommend use a "step drill bit" instead a "saw drill bit" it's easier. Thanks for the video!

Very good idea for folding wooden +iron rack .u solve my problem. Thnx 💪👍
@dannycassell92283 жыл бұрын
Just found your page..... If you weld a long bolt to the bottom near the wheels you could use it as a drop down foot, this way you can keep the wheels.
@timhenderson97942 жыл бұрын
I think you made the right choice using wheels, how else would you do it?

Maybe a way to help keep your pull up bar a small bit higher, notch out the top of the vertical bars where you got pretty existing holes into a "U" style cut so your bar can slide down into place VS. sliding through holes.
@Dtzeo5034 жыл бұрын
You should upload more of your projects. It's cool that you made a folding squat rack. I would like to build one but i got to figure out where i should put it lol. Since i live at home and my parent's garage is horded with stuff.
@nelsonnguyen48114 жыл бұрын
My other friend is having the same problem. We're thinking about building the kind that's in 2 pieces. You just have to be careful with reracking lol.

Where did you buy the material from? Like the rack itself. What size is it? And the mechanism that swivels to the cross beams, where did you get them?

Thanks for the posting this video. I thought is was well done, and interesting to watch. I'm looking at possibly doing something similar for my garage. Just had a quick couple of questions: How much is that budget mag drill, and what is the make and model?
@nelsonnguyen48114 жыл бұрын
It's the Evolution mag drill. It's expensive.... but works like a charm. lol

What did you use to bend the metal for the L brackets and J hooks? Where did you source your raw materials? What was the total cost?
@nelsonnguyen48114 жыл бұрын
To bend the metal, i put it in a vice and smacked it with a hammer lol. Then I welded on the L shape bend.

If you don’t want to spend money for magnetic drill then small, bench top drill press will work if you put it on the floor. Nice rack by the way. Keep training, keep welding, keep making KZbin videos.

I have a practical question because i want to build this rack. You talk about making it 4 feet deep, that means the width has to be 8 feet or am i wrong? Otherwise the rack cant fold next to each other. But that is too wide for any barbell, how do you fix this problem ?
@nelsonnguyen48114 жыл бұрын
I figured, the pivot point would be offset from each other by a couple inches. That way, they can fold on top of each other.
@jacobcolsen4 жыл бұрын
How come you don’t like the wheels?
