You are so sweet! I teach Zumba. It’s not belly dancing, but you do need to utilize your stomach muscles when doing a lot of the moves. In the past I wore a tutu to give them a better visual of how much my hips move, but I’m happy to say that I’ve lost weight, and my tutus do not fit anymore. I like that these are made from a t-shirt because I can hopefully help my class participants make one for themselves, because who doesn’t have an old t-shirt lying around? Great idea, I no longer fit my old belt, old fashioned fitted belt (even then I liked tribal better but, we all had to have the same style) and didn't want to put a lot of effort into a new, in fact, learning some Tahitian dance, this is the fastest and easiest idea I have seen, in fact, because I sew... I have some wide scraps of knit fabric I can use. Great video!

I took a class in my twenties at the YMCA. and then again in my early 40's. A group of women and I used to belly dance together. For 3 years now I've wanted to make videos of me belly dancing in front of my semi truck @ truck stops. I have a costume on my truck with matching scarf. I haven't had the confidence though. Maybe cuz I'm alone not with an instructed group?

I only know chest lifts and little bit of hip moves. It feels awkward so I think the hip scarf will help a bit. I have a playlist of belly dancing videos I've found and saved and watch obsessively. It just looks so awesome! Besides with my junk food diet I need something like this to keep me fit. And I have 11 years of dance on me already. But I quit. And it turns out my grandma belly danced. Edit: It keeps bunching up at the top when I try to tie it. I used an old shirt of mine so it's a little shorter but not by much. I'm waiting on beads now.

Regarding the hip scarf: if it keeps bunching at the top when you tie it, try cutting more of a curve from the fringe up to the ties so when you tie the scarf you are not pulling the bottom edge, too. Watch again the part in the video at about 7 minutes. Let me know if this helps.
