Once you get the tension right, take spray can and paint a straight line the length of the spring. If you ever have to undo the spring, the paint will go spiral. When you re-tension, once the paint line is straight and it will be perfectly tensioned every time!

Im all about diy etc etc but i learned the hard way years ago. If you have anything you need done with garage doors its not worth doing it yourself. Garage doors are one of those things that the professionals just do a better job and it saves so much time at the end of the day.

Frustrating when jobs are so difficult but Trent always manages to figure them out one way or another. Smart guy. I missed Brandon today. We got a couple of glimpses of Leo. He is sooo precious. Oh gosh guys, the fixing of the garage door was quite the process, but I am happy that Trent figured it out and made it work. I just can't believe how much snow you guys still have, I know our snow is finally gone and we are getting green grass and beautiful flowers coming in. In the last video I commented how sad Trent looked, not knowing he was sick. Illnesses are temporary but sometimes sadness can linger for a long time, so I'm glad to find out that instead of being depressed you guys were just under the weather, even though that sucks too.

I’ve been in garage door biz for decades. Your flag brackets on the outside of horizontal tracks were the problem with your spring height. They should look like an L-shape on outside of horizontal tracks. Then Mount bearing plates to top off flag brackets and the springs will be high enough to clear door height. Way to be persistent!! KZbinr, Shannon, with “House Improvements” explains it really well. 👍

I empathise with you both on getting sick when on vacation. Happened to me a lot when I worked (I had a stressful job). I mentioned it to a doctor and she said it’s a known trend. When your body relaxes after a pressurised time, it uses the energy usually put into your immune system to rebalance your body and as a result you are left with little or no defence to bugs you might normally not catch.

You should be spending all your energy preventing the house flooding that is surely coming your way. You will have to keep that place as a rental as it will never sell as owner built after watching the recorded history of it being built. For garage door opener I would recommend a side opener. Needs no clearance on top chamberlain makes one. Get the one with the locker function puts a bolt through the track and prevents outside opening with force.

Trent, you should consider using a side/ wall mount garage door opener as it mounts to the side of the garage doors tube spring saving space on the ceiling. It would work perfectly for your situation.

Garage doors are more than they seem. I put my first ones in wrong and balanced em wrong 20 yrs ago. So now 20 yrs later of putting up with screwed up doors-I sprung for top shelf doors. And of course I can now put them in correct? WRONG! Still installed em wrong and now ripping em out. Your instructions would have told you the pre-requisites for floor to header height, header to ceiling height, etc. they make a low clearance redouble track system for situations like yours.

Hey Trent, I have a suggestion for the lift side and front of the garage. Use some kind of hard board for the first 8' of the wall, it will give you a place to hang things on a more stable surface, plus it will be harder to damage should something should fall or bump up against the wall. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

But some like our tweezers take alot of hydraulic fluid. But it can pick up a full grown tree from the roots and move it anywhere you want the tree to be.

Trent your amazing, My husband put our garage doors in and I can tell you it was such a hard process for us too we have to tall doors and one normal, one day about a mo after he put the house garage door in somehow it slipped a bit , I drove my car in and Ripped the garage door apart it was awful! Thankfully we have a friend that’s sells garage doors we only needed to replace one panel, worst day of my life , garage doors are no joke we were totally remodeling our house ourselves so this was just miserable! Watching you and how hard you work, Wow I commend your resilience and patience,you rock !! Your doing so awesome! But I do hate to see you struggle,glad your doors are finally right and you can move on to something easier!

Watching and figure out how not to do the garage door is such a flashback of so many things I have learned the hard way! Roflol and the worst part is when I go to do it again I did it so many ways wrong I can't remember which way was right! So have to relearn everything again.. or just pay someone!
