Hello! We met at that conference in York in May! Im building a shed in the garden and your video popped up, a great suprise!Ill be using the merhods you detail here for my base.

Thats crazy that you just stumbled onto it Anthony. Good luck with your shed. Are you going to the conference this year?

I did add a wooden floor on top of the base. You can watch it in the next video

Fair play for persisting with the manual tamping, I wouldn’t have had the patience 😂 Just did a similar job yesterday but on a very small patch and this video popped up. I was mixing concrete in buckets - hard work and i’m still feeling the pain. The job you’ve done looks superb btw.

Hi. Thanks for videos. Superb work. Looking at doing this myself. Could I ask if you have plans available and also I was looking at a 6m x4m build. Would the structure still be suitable or would it need additional support? Thanks very much.
@thediyfix8 ай бұрын
Yeah plans are actually going to be available soon, you can get notified by signing up at the following link: thediyfix.com/garden-room-materials-download/ Regarding additional support, you should probabaly double up your joists if they are spanning over 2.6m. Just bolt together two joists with M10 coach bolts

Hi, how did you know what depth to dig down ? is there a recommended depth that the height pg the timber frame needs to be to support the mot type 1 and then the cement ? Ideally I would want the shed base to be slightly above ground level
@thediyfix2 ай бұрын
Honestly I didnt have a set depth I just leveled it, which meant the highest point on the right was down 75-80mm and the lowest point on the back left was pretty much flush with the original ground level

Ive seen other similar builds where the main frames built straight ontop of the concrete base with a dpm underneath. Is this way done just so you could add insulation sheets to the floor?
@thediyfix4 ай бұрын
Hi Sam there was a few reasons, but yes insulation was one of them.

Just watched your full build timelapse and have come here to watch it from the start - you’ve done an amazing job! I’m inspired to follow your approach, looks fantastic! What are your thoughts on rebar to reinforce the concrete slab? Or is that overkill? Thanks again for sharing these videos.
@thediyfix9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, glad you like the videos Regarding rebar, my understanding was I didn’t need it for a base of this size and depth.

@@thediyfix oh wow! That’s almost the same as what my build would be. Going back to your build anything you would recommend to reduce the wastage of materials (wood/boards) etc?

hey im in the process of doing this in my garden right now, I just liked this video so I can come back to it whilst I'm doing it. I haven't got many tools but I will take my time and ensure measurements are correct etc. I just wondering, sometimes people use like black layer of tarpooling type of thing before anything goes down, is that essential to use? Thanks so much
@thediyfix7 ай бұрын
Yeah that is Dpm. I added mine above that slab between the base and the floor, both are legitimate ways of doing it. If you add it below you will need to add sand above the hardcore, then dpm, and then concrete
