I'm making tote bags inspired by the tutorial you shared in an older 10-minute sewing projects video! My list is at 17 right now for all of my family members and a few of my closest friends. It was quite ambitious but it's so fun seeing them all come together!!

More lovely ideas, thank you. Let's face it, who doesn't need an extra tote bag in their handbag for car? Men appreciate them too! I'm making coasters for wine bottles for gifts this year . I bought a pile of cheap bath towels to use as wadding. A couple of layers of towelling makes good padding for pot holders too. PS: Looking forward to Part 2 tomorrow!

Another video, another nice bundle of practical tips! Well done! Re: the tote bags - they can actually double as gift wrapping, which is really cool! I understand you wanted to make this tutorial as simple as possible, however I thought I'd add a couple of tips, which I learned when I made a bag for my sister (yes, it was a gift wrap :D) earlier this year. 1) use fusible interfacing in the handles, they will be more comfortable for your hands and shoulders 2) if you have enough fabric, consider making the fold at the top wider and sew the handles onto two layers of fabric, they will be sturdier this way 3) more advanced option for handles: attach a fabric strip to the top edge, preferably with some interfacing ironed on, and then you'll have two layers to attach the handles to 4) try to attach a pocket! two rectangles, sew right sides together leaving a small opening, turn right side out, press the whole thing flat while tucking the opening in, then sew onto the bag's body 5) it's easier to add modifications/pockets/sturdier handles/zipper if you leave sewing the actual bag sides and bottom to the very end 6) attach the handles using the 'box' method.

If you dont have an overlocker do you do a straight stitch first then the zigzag stitch or just the zigzag?

Straight stitch first, then zig zag just along the edge of the fabric 😊

Are you using wool felt for the inside of the coasters? It looks so much thicker and nicer than felt I have been able to find here in my town in Canada. Those twisted candles are lovely.
@RoseryApparel4 жыл бұрын
It’s actually a type of wadding as it’s all I had, but I find simple acrylic felt works best for the coasters as it’s not too thick! 😊
