Something about your video makes me want to clean. I love it. Watch your video count go up over the next little while. Also, I still find it weird that people don't implement taking off their shoes before entering the house. It's just more dust/dirt/stains to clean over time (if not, every day).

Here is another great use for the vodka all-purpose cleaner: after spraying a couple of pumps on your counters, you can then spray a little in your mouth too. Ahhh the perfect cleaner!

Love these DIYs! Friendly tip for those using baking soda on the carpet- even if you don't have blood pressure issues, this can surprisingly raise your blood pressure, heart rate, and cause dizziness through inhaling the fine baking soda dust as you shake it on and when disturbing it again to vacuum it up. This is because it is sodium which naturally raises blood pressure. Direct contact with your mucus membranes through inhaling the powder creates a stronger response from your system as it is absorbed directly into the blood stream. Simple solution: wear a light mask and apply a little less powder-no problem! 😉🙌 Thank you for such lovely and practical videos, Rachel!

I absolutely loved this! I love when you make these types of videos! Just so you know vinegar is a natural fabric softener! And it also disinfects. If you ever leave your clothes in the washer too long and it gets that mildewy smell, put like a half cup of vinegar. I never measure it you can do a lot and it gets rid of the smell and you don't smell the vinegar at all! It's amazing!

Do you put the vinegar directly in the washer with the clothes or where the detergent goes?

Hey Rachel, now that you have a dog are you careful about what essential oils you use around your home? I love essential oils and recently read that they're bad for pets. Are there some that you recommend that are dog-safe? I am always too scared to use them since I heard about this. I love watching your videos they are so therapeutic!

Warning about the type of vacuum to use for carpet refresh- use an electric powered vacuum, not a hand held battery powered one. I learned this from personal experience. My vacuum is too heavy for the stairs so I used the handheld. The baking soda got inside and the battery storage compartment and the hand held died. I cleaned the internal workings as best I could and replaced the battery, still dead.

You might already know this (but I didn’t so I’m glad someone told me!) but some essential oils (a quick google will tell you which ones) are dangerous to dogs. Just so you keep your lovely Ozzie a happy healthy pup!
@therevolutionblog36296 жыл бұрын
Gracicle thank you for bringing attention to this! I had already responded to this on another comment mentioning the same thing but thought I would copy and paste the response here as well as it sounds like something you have some awareness and interest in. The safe use of essential oils around pets is definitely discussed in the book including which essential oils used in the book should not be used around dogs. The essential oils Rachel used in this video for are not harmful to Ozzie. The only one that would be of concern is the tea tree oil but the recipe and application that she used it for in the soft scrub should not cause any harm as it is being used on sinks and not on or around Ozzie. Safe essential oil use around pets is definitely something that needs to be understood and discussed further. I plan on doing a blog post about it soon going in more depth as there is so much conflicting information on this topic. It is very important to remind people to use the correct cautions when using essential oils around pets but it is just as important to make people aware of how toxic most conventional cleaners are to our dear sweet animals.

NOT taking your shoes of before you enter a house is so strange for me as a swede. It is actually considered rude to hade your shoes on! And also it seems so stupid, doesn't it become very dirty? Like ALL the time???
@EtherealTempest6 жыл бұрын
It's not rude here if it's your own home. Most guests are also more comfortable with their shoes on vs. walking around barefoot in someone else's home, but we'll respect the homeowner's wishes if they want shoes removed. So, unless you're trekking mud, snow etc. into the house, we have pets that go outside, & it isn't a big deal to wear shoes inside so long as you regularly clean. Every household has different "rules", generally though it's just a cultural difference. :-)
@nula145 жыл бұрын
Same here. I'm German, and I grew up taking off my outdoor shoes before entering my home. When I lived in the US for a while, I was stunned to learn that this is not "a thing" there. All the dirt that I'm stepping in all day ... I wouldn't want that in my house.

@therevolutionblog36296 жыл бұрын
Vodka is my favorite to use and multiple recipes using different ingredients are mentioned in the book also showing which surfaces they are safe to use on. But you can use vinegar or rubbing alcohol as a replacement. Vinegar is just not safe on as many surfaces as alcohol is.

You can replace with either. Just be cautious that vinegar is not safe to use on natural stone surfaces like granite or quartz. The book gives multiple recipes for all-purpose cleaners using different ingredients and discusses which are safe for which surfaces.
