DIY Grow Light Stand: 2 levels, 2 lights, one shelf

Here's an easy DIY set up for your expanding your grow light set up! Mars Hydro sent me another great fixture to check out, the Mars Hydro SP 150, and I decided to use it to turn my shelf into a 2 level grow station. We also have a look at some seedling progress! Products I use:

Those metal pieces on the Mars Hydro light are called a "heat sink." It's basically a passive way of cooling off the lights by letting the heat travel through them. I learned about heat sinks when I built my computer, so I just figured I'd share some knowledge I have since you've shared so much of yours with me! Thank you!

You review some nice but not inexpensive grow lights. I have purchases and use led grow lights that are cheaper. Is there any reliable way to test and see what quality and strength of light I’m achieving with mine vs what you get with the more expensive ones? Or is it really only testable with results? How do I know that I wouldn’t get happier succulents with different lights?

The full spectrum LEDs are pricier for the size vs fluorescent full spectrums. You could order a light meter to see what kind of readings you get - something like this: amzn.to/2JVzKoh

The lights mentioned here are 13,000 lumens. That means they can be further away from the plants than what is shown in the video. If you have other lights, eg 2500-3500 lumens, it just means your light should be closer to the plants. As far as Kelvin rating, the video mentioned full spectrum, so that is around 5000- 6500 K, higher being better. If yours are like that, then your setup is sufficient.

I seriously need them because I've lost several plants over the Winters since 2016 because my apartment is either too hot in the Summer or too cold in the Winter, it sucks lol. It took me 3 Winters to accept that I had to get grow lights, I need better ones tho, a fan, a heater and a humidifier. As if apartment living wasn't costly enough lol, but that's plant parenting for you plus learning about specific lighting for plants finally helped😁. Have a blessed day.💚🙏🙏
