This is a very well-laid-out teaching on how to build a true bypass switch. I really enjoyed how you illustrated and repeated every single step of the circuit and made it so perfectly easy to understand and internalize the content. Awesome job!

Great and informative video on switches! Your clear and articulated teaching style provided exactly the level of detail and diagramming that I’ve been needing as I figure out how to work with pedal switches. You ought to have so many more subscribers. You have at least one new one as of right now. Well done, sir!

Great explanation, thanks!!! But the final statement just blew my mind...or maybe I understood something wrong... Why are Boss pedals different in behaviour??? Does not the "regular" 3PDT switch that you covered in this video have the same behaviour that you talk at the end about the boss pedals? (Push it once to switch the effect and the LED on, and push it again to turn everything off)

What I was attempting to say there was that it uses a different form of switching circuit. It’s electronic using a non-latching/momentary switch to control a FET transistor based bypass circuit … same in Ibanez, Danelectro and some other pedals. The resultant on/off operation is the same. What’s interesting is some of the Earthquaker pedals have latching and momentary functions on the same switch, and that’s a different circuit again using a microcontroller and electronic relay.

So happy to see a new video, Stu! This was very useful - I was following along drawing my own diagrams and trying to map out connections on a 3PDT switch. All explanations were very clear and helpful, as usual - can't wait to see the next videos!

Thanks, Bruno. I had fun reverse engineering that circuitboard and it's really great to hear that this is useful. I'm planning the next part now, it will be on wiring the input/output jacks, grounds and power to complete a pedal.
