I have 3000 sq ft commercial gym which I have used for over 14 years. My mats 4×6 but 3/4 inches and weighing 100# each. The mats are flat on both sides and on a concrete floor. I periodically have to check for mildew but worth their weight in gold. No odor from Tractor Supply. Good informative video!

No odor from tractor supply? Do you have a special tractor supply that gets stall mats from somewhere other than Canada? Maybe you think you’re special in the brain that has unscented stall mats? Do you have a smelling problem? Do you dream of lifting heavy iron on your stall mats which mask the odor?
@Chemhead19826 ай бұрын
I think your special in the brain. Re - read what they said. Since they bought another brand, they have no odor you would normally have from tractor supply. My god your dumb.@teamdada2194

Definitely going to apply the P.A.N.I.S. and S.H.A.T. methods. You mentioned you had some cohabitants with sensitivities. Did the S.H.A.T. method eliminate the problems for them, and does it still smell like rubber in the basement?

What about carpeted floors? I recently moved to a new place, and I'm converting a carpeted family room to a gym. For resale reasons, I'd rather not remove or damage the medium plush wall-to-wall carpet currently installed. Will stall mats work? If not, does anyone have other suggestions? I'm not looking to cover the entire area (about 23×15), just under the 4-5 pieces of equipment, including a plated squat rack/functional trainer, treadmill, assault bike, and leg press/hack squat machine.

I used 3/4” thick horse stall mats over a Berber carpet in my first home gym. While it wasn’t ideal…it still worked fine and I still had great workouts.

Hey breh how would these stall mats work outside in the backyard, where grass grows(i keep it cut very low to the point where you see dirt) would this be good? I was setting up a basktball court and i needed stability. Will these mats suffice?
@DesignBuildLift3 ай бұрын
If the ground is not 100% flat, then the mats won’t be either. Also - you will need to ensure to connect them together with gorilla tape/mending plates. This is either a great idea or a terrible idea. 😆

So after being out for 3 weeks, how much smell was left? Was all of it gone? I just bought some mats for a shed gym, ventilation there isnt very good and i typically workout with doors closed. Was planning to leave the mats outside for 2 weeks, but wonder if that might not be enough. (I got the 4x3 1/2 inch from tractor supply, they are flat on both sides, but just work better with the layout of my shed, not sure if that matters)
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
After 3 weeks, the odor was barely noticeable. And after a couple of days after installation I didn't notice it at all (I probably just got used to the residual odor). However, I asked others if they smelled anything, and they said no. Since you got the 1/2" mats perhaps the smell will not be as bad as my 3/4" mats - or perhaps just as bad...I am not sure. Please let me know how the PANIS process works for you!

I’m building a home gym and playing on using these mats but I have carpet, do these mats work good over carpet ???
@DesignBuildLift9 ай бұрын
While not ideal….yes it works. I used to deadlift on top of a horse stall mat when my gym was carpeted, and the surface area of the heavy mat made the lift feel better because my feet were not sinking into the carpet as much when pulling up the barbell.
@shiftyfn19 ай бұрын
@@DesignBuildLift The thing is the room am trying to build the gym is fully carpeted and I want to put the mats all over the carpet do you think it could work and be good or would it be unstable because of the carpet, if yes would double sided duck tape work good for the bottom

How did you apply your Odobann? Did you spray and let air dry? Or spray and wipe them with a cloth.
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
Great question! I made a solution with hot/warm water, dish soap, and the Odoban. I poured it in the mats, and scrubbed with a Scrub Broom. I let it air dry in the hot sun. Then I flipped it over, and the same thing to the other side.

So even if you don’t bend them when taking them in, wouldn’t they still crack once people started stepping on them?
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
No…these are made for horses to stand on….these will not crack. In retrospect, I think that 1 cracked mat was just a dud (no enough adhesive)….that one mat out of the 10 that I bought, had a crumby finish, all 9 others had a smooth finish…. I doubt any of the others would have done that. You should be fine.

In retrospect, I think that particular mat split only because it was a dud. Unlike all the others I bought that day, this one had a grainy texture with lots of “rubber crumbs” falling off. I don’t think they applied enough adhesive to the ground rubber when they made this one. All the others had a glossier sheen and no rubber crumbs. Therefore, I doubt any of the others would have split like the dud did.

So many videos about this - but no one talks about the extreme toxic chemicals these mats are made with how how unhealthy they are for you to be indoors. Your PANIS method failed you, cause planning would of included finding a mat to use that isn't off-gasing constantly toxic chemicals that are bad for your health as you huff/puff to work-out for your health. Like smoking a pack of cigarettes as you jog on the treadmill for 1 hour - does the body no good.

Yes. The more expensive mats with no VOCs are better. No contest.
