This needs to have a different term than “heat treat oven.” It’s kind of like calling the Vatican Palace “some dude’s house.” I’ve been thinking about building one for a while, but making it look decorative never entered my mind. Amazing project & well built aside from the aesthetics!

great piece of work! What was the highest temperature you were able to get on that kiln. Thanks!

In point 2 and in point 11 you have different heating wires, which one is the right one? Nice work!

Great video. Amazing construction. Question - do you have a wiring diagram for how you ran this with the 220v? I am currently using 110v in a build similar to this but would like to upgrade to 220v.

Sir nice work. But i want a oven like this and want to run it 10 to 12 hours continue. Will this oven work 10 to 12 hours continue
@TNCXBUNBOX
@TNCXBUNBOX 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes it will work for 12 hours. Just don't embed the coil in cement like i did. Instead, please use stainless steel hooks/screws to hold the coil.

A good job without a doubt. I have an equal controller (mc701). How do I increase the temperature slowly instead of going straight to 100%, say 60% or 35% etc ... Does it not have this function? I can't find out. Thanks

Thank you for your support ! To answer your question : In order to have this kind of PIDs, please looking for the "Soak and Ramp PID" - this we can set up to 32 steps or more of how we want the temperature in period of time. For this MC701 PID or similar simple model, all we can do is set the temperature raise slowly manually.

Hello what if i want to make a bigger one, is there any different measurements?

First of all, I’d like to say that’s a heck of an effort and it looks like a great kiln! I just have a couple of questions - why the pebbles and refractory cement on the bottom over the refractory brick? I wouldn’t think there was much heat leakage there, end it seems like a very strong layer that you could walk on but why? The second question is why the ceramic tiles on the outside. I am really curious - I have made a killing from scratch which I use for burnout purposes and run to 800°C and I am in the process of rebuilding a much larger pottery kiln which goes up to 2200°F/1150 Celsius. These are just built from refractory brick with a blanket of refractory insulation over them in a stainless steel sheet metal case. I am interested in your comments. I’d like to add I really like your workmanship-itall looks great!

Sir one Question. What is the full length of kanthal wire used in this kiln ?
@TNCXBUNBOX
@TNCXBUNBOX 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I don't remember exactly, I just Multiply ohm per foot (on the lable of the package 16GA 0.33 Ohm/foot), it's about 66.5 Feet or 20m length for 22 Ohm Resistance. Hope this help.

Question: I didn't see how you made the kiln door. Was it just moulded refactory cement?
@TNCXBUNBOX
@TNCXBUNBOX 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dameon, I use relatively long screws to attach the hinges to the brick (as it quite soft) then embedded the hinges to both Body and door with the refractory cement. Until now it is perfectly strong, very strong. Hope this helps.

How do you adjust your resistance? Also, is the wattage coming off of the pid?

Risistance is governed by the length of the element wire and dependant on it's diameter. For the heat treat kilns i build I my elements are 23 ohms to achieve 9.7A of currnet at 220vac to be able to run off a regular outlet

if you need 22 ohms and 0.515 coil resistance, it should be 42.72 meters of wire sorry i'm still confused
@hermansujana8405
@hermansujana8405 4 жыл бұрын
L=R/r L=22ohm/0.515 L=42.7 meter correct please
@TNCXBUNBOX
@TNCXBUNBOX 4 жыл бұрын
The resistance of the 18 GA Kenthal wire as it is stated is 0.515 per Foot (not meter), therefore, it 's equivalent to 42.7 Feet = 13.02 Metres . Hope this help you !

is there air circulation? And if there is no air circulation, can it cause an explosion because the hot air inside the oven is trapped?

As you can see in the Video, the steam was coming out (when the oven was still moist) between the gap of the Door and the oven. It is not completely sealed like a Pressure pot or a vacuum chamber, steam can slowly come out when I do my pottery
