My DIY home basement MAKEOVER | Come clean and organize with me | Potting and Craft Room
I've been wanting to organize, take over, and makeover the basement. This DIY basement makeover is my version of a she shed, but in my house. I will be redecorating a gross space and make it bright and cheery for gardening projects and crafting projects. In this video I am sharing what I did once I finally made the time to clean and organize my future work space in the basement.
I decided to clear everything out and start putting my basement takeover and basement makeover plans into action and make a potting and craft room. It is the perfect space to redecorate. There is plenty of natural light, easy access to the gardens, a sink, a bathroom (which is also getting a makeover) and plenty of space to work. Once it is clean, organized and prepped, I will be able to paint it a cheery color, decorate the basement, and make it a room I will enjoy going to, even if that means doing the laundry.

I can totally identify with getting distracted by multiple things during a project. I think it’s because I’m very visual and if I see it, I am pulled to it. I eventually get everything done in Lori order! Can’t wait to see the transformation!

I actually like the old rustic look of the walls in the basement bathroom. I’d maybe paint the floor there, clean up the sink, skirt it perhaps. Love the framed art as well in there.

Hey Linda I am going to copy your staircase! When we remodeled oh I went ahead and had our staircase carpeted fully with the same carpet that we have in our upstairs rooms. And I have hated it. I plan to have the carpet ripped off, the risers painted white, and the platform on the steps done in Walnut to match our floors on the main level. And then I will send a runner up the stairs pretty much identical to your runner. Thanks so much for the inspiration we have very similar taste.

I can see a light Williamsburg cream on the walls and bead board and either a yellow based gold or sage green for trim and a small botanical print on the wallpaper in the 1/2 bath downstairs. I would go with an off white with an overall sage botanical repeat. Then pop a new Mirror and lighting in, new sink and toilet, with some gardening prints and wreath with a touch of your silver bling. The big worktable is a keeper Will you be keeping the pipes on the wall exposed or could you build a faux cover or put bi-fold doors over them?

Linda: for an old home, you really have a nice basement, and it was really not that bad. Is it heated? When I clean, I jump around a lot too, but it eventually gets done!

Get two 40kg bags of concrete readymix screed delivered. Wheelbarrow or plastic sheet to mix on. Spade. Lady sized. Water is nearby. Just like cake batter. Mix and pour. I use an industrial spatula. Hole gone. Gluegun rope round poles. Potager Indoors Fine Living.

Was that the original basement to your house or was it dug out ? I was surprised bc it looks much newer than the age of your house especially the posts . I also have very bad dust allergies and other allergies, but l have been totally unaffected by allergies this year,.. l think bc l now wear are mask all the time . Thank you for sharing ...now back to my nightstand that l have been cleaning out for 4 hours .. l have ADHD and it’s Soo hard to keep the focus on the task at hand ... especially if it is a boring one . 🥴

I think that part of the house and basement space was re-worked. That part of the building has been there since at least the a1880's OR replaced a building. I saw it in an old drawing of the property.
