If you REALLY want to make it like a real theater, you need an EXIT sign by the door that also shines onto the screen. You'll also need some tivoli lights on the stairs and the ramp that also illuminate the bottom corners of the screen, helping to reduce contrast. Then you need some person to wander into the room a couple of times during the movie with a light waving around in their hand, stand at the front and count how many people are in the room. If you play trailers, you need like 20 or 30 of them and they all need to be much louder than the movie. Make it happen.

A sense of pride & achievement comes to those who are willing to get their hands dirty. Saving a few dollars is a bonus. Got to give it to you.. a very well planned job, and it actually looks perfectly executed, too. IDK about the stereo sound stage (music), but I would imagine the acoustics for movie watching/listening would be very enjoyable. Personally, if this was my setup, I would have gone with less expensive wood & carpet and put it towards shielded speaker cables. Guests are unlikely to notice the less expensive wood or carpet, but when the Silent scenes come in.. they might just notice how quiet the room is. Your Theatre your rules. All in all, you've done a splendid job. You should be proud of yourself. Bravo 🎉

I used good wood, good carpet and shielded cables. The room is not designed for music listening and pristine stereo imaging since I have two rows to contend for. Compromises have to be made for that. I have the other room for music.
@Antibackgroundnoise2 ай бұрын
@therealshanelee, hahaha, that told me 😊 (love it) Is it just the analogue cables, or are you eventually going to shield the entire Signal Path. I say that because in my experience, it's only when you knock the long ones down that the short ones (digitals) become apparent. "The benefit of quality cabling in HT" One would think there'd be a video for it, but there ain't 🤔

My setup. Chinese made small 5.1 Amp with RCA outputs. 2x2.1 self powered speakers for front and rear L&R with miniwoofers. Center speaker is bluetooth speaker with Mini-Stereo input and a large sub-woofer. I put a colored LED desklight behind 55 inch 4-K TV in order to create some illumination on the wall behind the TV. Using 1080P Blu-Ray Player to watch DVDs and Blue-ray discs. Movie streaming service maxes out at 1080P too. Regular painted concrete walls. No overhead speakers, no side speakers. Setup is loud enough to really bother my neighbors. Lol... Total cost was around $750 US. With that setup, I am about 90% satisfied with my viewing experience. Not gonna spend another $6000 to reach 100% satisfaction. This KZbinr's setup just seems crazy to me.

Usually the most expensive part is the quality 2x6 or 2x12 (depending on riser height). Those boards are not cheap. Then the real dime dropper is the OSB decks. If you really want a quality riser than 3 boards thick is required and that gets pricey quickly.
