Does anyone else have very little Christmas decor? I also have no family here in Australia so Christmas looks a little different. What gifts do you make from your garden? 🍉 Let me know below 👇

Yes, yes and yes! I've just put up our handmade pallet tree with a few kiwiana decorations and solar lights around the veggie garden fence 🤣 I'm making teas, preserves, infused oils and vinegars, and a few other things but trying to just use things from the garden. It's so much nicer than buying random things that may not be needed. I also just bought our farm (me, haha) a bee-hive for Christmas 🙃

I have minimal decorations...a small tree with handmade decorations & a sticker on my door..but our house is full of love & laughs.💙

Yes!!!! I hear you on your thoughts about the forced feeling of giving!!I give something meaningful if I can, but dont like the obligation feeling..Christmas to me is about making happy memories, & sharing a nice meal together & enjoying each others company..❤

Boy, you are right on. I feel the same way. I give the same way, too. I just found your channel, and I know I'm going to love it. I just loved, love, loved this video. We are so much alike.

Beautiful video and ideas thank you! I’m in a position this year that I can’t afford gifts like the recent past so I’m going to try to make homemade gifts from my garden. Thanks for the inspiration! And a reminder that gift giving should be thoughtful and not forced x

Great video Holly… and no, not a grinch. Gifting on a day because society says so is not from the heart. Ad-hoc gifting is personal, thoughtful, genuine and with love. I too have no family in Australia and find it strange here, also too hot! I just treat it as a time to slow down and enjoy. Love the gift ideas… previously I have gifted homemade chocolate, and ‘treats’ but started gifting seeds, seedlings. I have taken up sewing recently and will see what transpires from that Hope the ‘hint’ delivers an unusual fruit tree ✨

Thank you Lynda 💚 So hot! I just want to swim and hide from the heat. Eating much over the christmas holiday is also hard due to the extreme heat! I have made a few things but definitely need to dust off my sewing machine. I would love to do more natural dying.

I feel the same why you do! Homemade gifts are my favourite to give! It means I put thought into it instead of just buying something for the sake of it. I like making herb salts from my garden and I love giving potted succulents in a thrifted clay pot. Or a dried flower frame. Thanks for your video 💕

Yay! Succulents are great gifts because they are easy propagate and to keep alive too 😁

Hi Holly, I love your videos they have helped me so much. I live in Perth too and am just getting into gardening and self sufficiency the past year. I'd love to see some sort of seasonal growing guide throughout the year , I haven't been able to find much on Perth specifically and would love to see what you're growing and how it goes for you. Thanks again for your videos they really are great x

Hi Evie! Yay I’m so glad! I offer seasonal grow guides inside my garden to plate club along with weekly updates on everything I’m planting or doing in the garden 🌱🌱

Oh Holly I'm 💯 percent with you that's how I feel, I'd much rather give when the inspiration hits me when I see that thing that fits that person's desires. The media are so pushy and want us to spend the money we often don't have

Kia ora Holly, I just tried to express the same thing to my Mum over the phone about an hour ago (and struggled not to sound like a cheap-skate). I totally get it and appreciate you putting this video out. Thanks & Merry Christmas to you x

I think the same way about gifting. Not easy explaining to my wife why she was the only one not getting flowers at work from her husband on Valentines day.
@SustainableHolly2 жыл бұрын
I have never received a gift on Valentines but I always feel spoilt and loved on other days so it never bothers me 🥰 As long as the effort is there other times.

Awesome gift ideas Holly! Very inspiring, I may need to invest in a dehydrator. I've started on homemade jams, and limoncello made from lemons from the tree. Just made homemade vanilla extract with rum and vodka ready for the following year for gifting & baking. 🪴🍋

Something to learn start small and learn x5 to remember and only use those then expand :) Only use if you are sure! Here are some of my favourite: sustainableholly.com/10-of-the-best-edible-flowers/

I am so the same. I love to give people gifts but the whole commercialism feels so off. I give a gift to someone when I see something that reminds me of them or when they need something that I have. Like tea that I have made, homemade food, cookies, etc. And I LOVE giving things from my garden.
@purposeful1429 ай бұрын
Islam encourages the giving of gifts, as in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, according to which the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Exchange gifts; you will love one another.” Narrated by al-Bukhaar
@lucy321802 жыл бұрын
Could not agree with you more on gifts!! People just give each other crap with no thought because why?! I feel this way about cards, I would rather someone write me their msg on a scrap piece of paper rather then purchase a brand new item. The consumerism culture at Christmas is ridiculous!
@SustainableHolly2 жыл бұрын
Cards are the biggest waste 🙌 insane how much a card costs too! People rent whole storage units for Xmas decorations they use for 3 weeks of the year 🤯
@KK-FL Жыл бұрын
I am the same with gifts. If I want to get a person something, I will get it and give it to them no matter what time of year it is. I don't subscribe to the forced giving.
