Nice video. I found that you don't have to disconnect the mass air flow sensor. Just the four clips & then lift the cover off & swing it out of the way while the mass air flow sensor connector is still attached. Still, thanks for this & all of your other videos. I appreciate the effort you make so people like me can save money & do my own minor car maintenance.

Incredibly easy instructions! I have a 2018 Honda Fit and the dealership (Honda) wanted to charge me: 1. $59.95 for the engine filter. 2. $39.95 for the cabin filter. Edit: That would've been over a $100.00! I bought the engine air filter from Walmart for around $16.00 and the cabin filter was about $8.00. And best of all the installation was free (I did it myself)! Thanks for the video! 🥰

Still relevant! 2012 Fit and having the closeups where I could see the direction of the plastic tabs helped. One had fallen off to the ground and it can be a little trick to get it back to where it needs to be. Fortunately, the airflow sensor had enough slack so the filter was accessible. Thanks!

The air cleaner clips by the MAF are missing the black plastic part on the car I am working on. Thanks for the clear picture in a nice clean engine compartment. I hope Honda sells just the clip.

Yes. Simple maintenance like this can be done by anyone. Don't forget your cabin air filter, too. That is extremely easy as well. Just open the glove compartment, push the glove compartment sides inward, and you will see the housing of the cabin air filter behind it. Squeeze the two tabs of the housing together, and slide the housing out. Viola. Video on my channel for these two replacements. :p

Just curious, would a cheap $3 oem filter work just as well as the $20 original ones? I can't tell the difference from paper, it's not like Toyotas I know where, the filter looks obviously doubled.

Funny. I just made a video myself doing this, but included the cabin air filter too. xD I had not changed both since 2016, and let me tell you, there was about a 6" in height, mass ball of lint, threads, and other fluffy material from a mouse invasion in the cabin air filter. Lolz. It was epic! Some seed shells at the bottom of the housing for the engine air filter.

I see a bit of, um, corrosion or ??, inside air filter area, toward back. I can't see what might be causing it. Any ideas? V helpful instructions.

+Paula Thompson Hmm i'm not sure. I know dirt and debris does make it up into the resonator box. I would see if the corrosion can be wiped off with a general cleaning solution.

Honda Fit coil packs are know to go bad around 40K miles. If you have P0180 I would inspect all the coilpacks and replace them if needed.

I find problems with the 2 black clips toward the back of the filter. They come off the wire to which they are not well attached. If can get back on successfully, then have problem with orientation, and (with clip on left), with coming way to close to U-shaped tubing. Any thoughts?

Black clip has 2 ends. One side has the metal piece and the other end of the clip does not have the metal piece. You insert into the slot on the filter box cutout the black clip with the metal end first and then lift the other end of the black clip that doesn't have the metal piece upward.

Honestly this is as simple as it can get. Older cars weren't as fool proof. Sure you may have needed to only undo one wing nut to take off an air filter cover above the carb. But what if that wingnut seized. Or stripped. Or what if the stud spun and now your wingnut wouldnt actually come undone because the stud just kept spinning. There were many ways for a simple job to turn into a mess for an inexperienced mechanic. Now things are a LITTLE more involved, but they are usually engineered better to not drive you nuts anywhere near as often.
