Hi Mary & John👋🌿🐛🦋...beautiful morning here in Queens, NY. Here, the weather is cool and bright. I just had my cup of coffee outside, listening to the juncos, blue jays, cardinals, wood peckers, sterlings and even Quaker parrots! Catching rays of vitamin D, feeding the birds and watering the garden. I just want to thank you, and your family for being wonderful virtual neighbors. God bless you all! Enjoy your day! 😊 Adirondack chairs painted lavender, would look nice in that area you worked on today. Years ago I had a pond my daughter and I built. Mary, my dad built a hot bed just like the one John and you built. I was the only Catholic girl in town but 70 years later I still visit all my Mennonite friends.❤️
@ozarkview9289 ай бұрын
The reason it’s called a hotbed is because that’s literally what it was , they would put green horse manure in first then soil on top , as it composted it heated the soil for seed starting, I still remember my grandparents hotbeds . From a Mennonite grandmother

Mary, if you drag a large plastic garbage can around with you as you are raking leaves you can put them in there and then put a weed eater inside and grind up the leaves into a powder almost. Much like a spice grinder works. Then you can sprinkle them back into the garden and put all those nutrients back into the earth.

A few weeks ago, when we had some dry days, here in Portland, Oregon, my daughters and myself started trimming trees that had got way out of control. A big Poplar in the back yard, and the rest our pretty much the nei ghbors trees that hang over into our yard, that either neighbors do not maintain, ugh. Every year I trim my Maples, and my plum tree, and keep them in check. Our Daffodils are so tall, and lush this year, and I also have Hellabores, and for the 20+ years, still spreading and beautiful. I long for Spring, even the hard work. Always look forward to Wednesday and your video. Love everything you do.
