Hey, I just want to thank you for posting these videos. I was like you and looking online for ways to build a tub and after seeing your build and recommendation to download the custom built spa tutorial i bought some cinder blocks the following day and started my own journey. Thanks for the inspiration!

That’s awesome! I am currently soaking in my custom spa as we speak!! If you downloaded the Custom Built Spas book, etc, tell Gene how you came across him. Great luck on your journey! You won’t regret it.

Oh, I'm done now and love it. Absolutely no regrets! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the videos when you get a chance to post them.

@@spenny3091 awesome!!! I’ll try to get more videos posted. I got overwhelmed and dropped the ball for a while. :)

Thanks for making your videos, they brought back memories when I took on the same project. I used Gene's Book back in 2007 and built my own spa. Used ceramic pool tile and epoxy grout, it still looks as good Today as it did in 2007.

Glad to hear!! I still recommend everyone signing up at custombuiltspas.com for detailed plans etc. That’s the only way I knew how to do it.

Hi John. Thxs for the videos. Really helpful since I am thinking about building an outdoor tub myself. I noticed you used 2 pumps. Can you advise why 2 pumps? Can 1 pump be used instead?
@johncoaltrain94853 жыл бұрын
One pump is just for the jets and the other is just for the filtration system. Saves wear and tear on the entire system.

These videos are very informative and interesting. Would love a component/product list in the descriptions! Also, is the air traveling directly through the pvc, or do you have tubing inside?
@johncoaltrain94853 жыл бұрын
The air is traveling directly through the pvc. And I went through Gene at custombuiltspas.com to put together my product list. Out of respect for his business, I’m recommending others do the same.

Hey John, what pump did you use that have a 2” diameter for the water pipes, I bought one pump but I can only find the 1.5” diameter, I’m struggling to use that to my jethousing to connect it to that 2” pipe diameter

I think I have a 3HP waterway viper jet pump. It has a 2-1/2” inlet and outlet.

Sir Can I Connect the heater before the jet pump? Its on the jacuzzi set u

I’m not really sure what you’re asking….

On your regular pump, I didnt see a pump basket on front of pump. You have a skimmer, which will pick up debris from top of water . Wouldn't the debris clog your pump before it goes to filter
@johncoaltrain94853 жыл бұрын
So far I’ve had no issues with that. I know there are several tubs built using this same method they have been up and running for 15+ years with no problems.
@Thomaslloydguy Жыл бұрын
Normally the water would be filtered before going to the inlet of the pump
@phenixics98633 жыл бұрын
You may have already posted it, but what was your total cost when done?
@johncoaltrain94853 жыл бұрын
I upgraded almost everything. Came in around 10k. But without the upgrades, I think I could have come in around 5k.

Could you have used flexible PVC pipe to make this easier?
@johncoaltrain94852 жыл бұрын
I believe so. But the most complicated parts would still require fittings, so I doubt it would be worth the price you’d pay for flex pipe.
