I have a manual! But, your video is actually a much quicker, clearer understanding. We want to RIDE! Not WRENCH! Thanks for your time and effort to help other fellow V-rod owners. I run a beautiful 2003 100th anniversary. Definitely my most enjoyable bike to ride.

Great video buddy! I have a question , no need to remove the maxi fuse before changing the battery?
@chiguy_3 жыл бұрын
nice.. and yes that strap is just a no go.. also if anyone else is doing this make sure to check the breather hoses for cracking, as well as the ground wire connection. both the breather hoses on mine were bad and were dripping a little oil, and then on the ground wire connection check for corrosion or anything else cause that can and will cause the bike not to start or randomly shut off. yes that also happened to me LOL.

Great video just got my 06 Night Rod with 4800 miles so im gonna do the spark plugs, oil change and maybe battery replacement if it’s too old. While checking some of those other parts, though I don’t see any signs of leaks.

The O-ring is missing on the front velocity stack and up around the lip on the top of the rear velocity stack.The O-ring needs to be pushed over the bolts to retain them.If a bolt comes loose your motor will eat it

I have to get back to you latter. It's bedtime. But you need to know that battery strap is a +itch and I found if you take one of those flat cheap wrenches that come with DYI furniture and bend the tips a little more than 90 degrees you can grab the clip and pull it down and install it where it belongs. It's so easy you won't believe. I use one that has an 8-inch shaft. I'll see the rest in a day or two.

Great educational videos. Thanks. I am one of those who need mid controller. No one can find it any more due to discontinued production by HD. Any suggestion or information about switching foward to mid parts land labor?..Please?

I would say talk to the local dealership even though they don't make parts any more they maybe able to locate a dealer that has them in stock sitting on the shelf

Hi, first of all your video helped me a lot to change the battery, I just bought a HD V Rod 2003 and I'm new in this HD world, but I have a question. I noticed that that tank (in my case) had little pink liquid, forgive me that silly question but that liquid for what is it and how do I get it and how do I add it to the container, just opening the top lid and add the liquid?
@TheBadgers2 жыл бұрын
The liquid is engine coolant and yes just remove top lid add to the full line

Thank you for this vid! Did I miss the bottle swap? Perhaps we just need to know how to get clearance. What year vrod? I have an 04B. Did a semi repair of broken bottle cap nipple but I think I need to replace with the new design.
@TheBadgers3 жыл бұрын
It just slides in and out once your there, this is a 2004. The bottle is super easy to replace, now finding the bottle maybe a harder task
@hillip12 жыл бұрын
Hi.. What is the name of the bottle cap piece you replaced? I need to order one but do not know the technical make for it.. Thanks.
@TheBadgers2 жыл бұрын
It is the radiator overflow bottle and you can only buy the whole thing not just the cap
@hongm097 ай бұрын
How long does the battery last? Do you need to trickle charge when the bike is not in use? Also, where do you fill the coolant? From the radiator top hose with a cap or from the white plastic coolant tank? Thank you for your help.
@hongm097 ай бұрын
Btw, mine is also a 2004 model.
@TheBadgers7 ай бұрын
Batteries are very unpredictable I have seen them last 6 months or 10 years, so many things do factor in. To get the best results a battery tender is suggested, make sure the the radiator top hose is full then the overflow jug (the plastic jug)
@hongm097 ай бұрын
Thx u for the quick response. I do have the battery tender installed (for trickle charging). After filling up the top hose and the overflow jug to the "cool" line, do I need to bleed the air out manually?

Your Intro on what's to be done, how to do , what to look for , pay attention to detail, place everything back in reverse order, as for the battery rubber belt i think they thought the way you first had it and it came off that's the mistake they made and when the cover is over it you would not know it was disconnected. I love this bike because it is owner friendly and not complicated to do maintenance on your own. Is this to be your daughters bike? Peace.

What do you think about using a lithium battery for this bike?
@TheBadgers2 жыл бұрын

FWIW - I put a AntiGravity lithium battery in my 2005 VRod after getting 10 years out of the original Deka. I was in a weight shedding mentality when I ditched the stock exhaust for 2-1 Akrapovic and figured dropping nearly 10 lbs of battery weight up that high on the bike would make a difference in handling No difference in handling........lol. I went back to a lead/acid.

Just 2 little tip for you….. 1: see those big o-rings around the velocity stacks?….. push them down onto the allen,bolts( there is a little notch to prevent them coming up) that is to make sure in case a bolt somehow comes loose and starts dangling around it can go straight into the throttlebody and right into the engine and then you are F*cked 😫 2: pull the batterystrap first over the mountingbracket for the airbox ( with those 2 little rubbers ) makes swapping the battery much easier 😁
