Great alternative for those not wanting to buy primer, glue, and more pvc than needed for the job. No more old, dried up glue on the shelves from not being used for awhile. Thank you👍🏽

it's not forever fix but it's a quick one if you don't want to bother with cutting pipes and glue.

I like the inexpensive route here. My preference though is primer, glue, and a slip-coupling. Its quick and easy as well. Always good to have another tool in the bag though! Thanks for sharing

I agree with you but this one time I was just in mood for glue so I chose the easy way. Thanks for comments.

One very important point..need to be mentioned..for 1/2 inch pipe you need to use 3/4 size pvc couple.always one size up for sliding the pipe.

These things are terrible! I had a leak in a pipe when I dug it up it had one of these and the rubber was completely gone! I fixed it the right way with couplers and cement.

Correct this thing is useless will die over time. OK for under the sink where you can see it but not in the ground. Coupler primer cement jobs done.

I like it a lot, but worry about the rubber seals staying water-tight over the years. Better to go through the hassle of primer, cement, etc, and get a permanent repair? Hope someone answers soon; I've got a broken sprinkler pipe as we speak.
@MaciejPiotrowski6 жыл бұрын
I got your point, but there is nothing permanent about anything. I think it will take years before that rubber start leaking. Also, it''s not that deep and it took me 3 min to fix it. I did it cause I was quick. It's up to you how what way you chose to fix your leak.

What’s that piece called?

Seriously, I can't believe he didn't mention the name! After a bit of Google searching i figured out that it's called a PVC compression coupling.

This is a temporary fix bud. Rubber will not hold up over time. Also, you should tighten the nuts with a wrench. Hand tight will most likely leak again. I have a motto, do it right the first time or don't do it at all. This may have been quick and easy, but all you are doing is putting a band-aid on the problem. As a homeowner I want things fixed right.

Takes 3 to 5 minutes is crap, you didn't account for digging and cleaning for the area. Just curious, why put the gasket on and slide it 6" down the pipe to push back 6" to screw piece together? 🤦♂️
