Looks amazing! The cardboard template is genius! About to change out the carpet on my 1972 Tom Sawyer runabout. Did you need to use a special kind of glue/adhesive?
@AngryMackAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark! yes it worked perfectly! yep Sika Adhesive glue

Turned out nice ,, hope you saved the pattern ,, just in case you need it down the road ,, I would imagine that carpet will wear out before you sell this boat :-) lol do you use the boat often ,, we really don't know ,, not many video's of boat trips lol

Hey buddy, haha sure did, exactly right!! because of this water in the fuel situation, it kind of changed everything, so im still trying to get outboard to run 100%, i have now cleaned VST and injectors, but now that Perth is in lock down we cant take our boar out :(

Did you find that the Sika adhesive bled through the carpet at all? Going to give this a crack on the weekend!
@AngryMackAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew, if you apply to much to the carpet it will, I found to load the floor up and apply a small amount to carpet
@justintamaranoakes641 Жыл бұрын
Just a heads up guys I run my own Trim Shop down in Albany, you can certainly brush it on like you have and it works but it is far better to spray it on both surfaces as you only want enough glue to hold the carpet down for the duration that it will last. Get even coverage and wait till it’s tacky then lay it down. If you mask up all your hatches then just lay the carpet you can go around with chalk and mark around all your hatches and borders with it then using a nice sharp pair of scissors cut into the corners from the middle then use a brand new Stanley blade to cut neatly along the edge and then use a scraper to tuck any edges in if needed. I always use Fullatack contact adhesive from Nolan’s UDA in 4 litre or 20 litre drums. Just get the 4 litre and you will be fine, but a cheap pressure pot spray gun with a 3mm tip and spray it on. Clean up using a bit of petrol on a rag as the glue is petroleum based. Have a fun lads. 👍

What does marine carpet feel like? Is it like automotive carpet or more like plastic?
@meatsquader642 жыл бұрын
It has a rubber backing so it’s pretty firm, it feels similar to a cars carpet but it’s more tightly nit, if that helps

Very nice job man. I reckon you might wish you made it removable down the track (with tabs and press studs). Carpet gets manky on a decent fishing trip. Wish mine was removable..
@AngryMackAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Hey Leon, my ok’d man has removable stud carpet and was a pain in the bum, you’d have a good fish on and the carpet stud would end up giving way and you’d fall on your ass 😂 plan is to place and extra throw away spare marine carpet over the top when fishing and crabbing to then get removed and washed! But yes did take into consideration hoping it will be okay!
@leonbrouwer61053 жыл бұрын
@@AngryMackAdventures Yeh mate I totally get that. I have a bit mat I use for a kill zone, then wash it out.. but still wish I had a full flow coat deck with something like deck armor so it can just be full wash down
@sagitario12ish2 жыл бұрын
everyone talks about replacing but nobody talks about how to prepare the surface before installing how, sand or not and if yes, how or what number of sandpaper, with a sander or by hand? nothing just fail they publish, bad
@cronut71132 жыл бұрын
Just make sure you're happy with the surface (smooth, level etc) then follow the manufacturer requirements for the adhesive and make sure the surface is free of any contaminants to ensure proper bonding.
