My daughter asked me to make a dress for her doll, i replied with remember hunny mommy only knows how to make scrub caps not dresses. she then states why dont you go on youtube. FYI shes only 5. lol 🤣 Thank you for taking the time and making this video. Oh, I can think of so many variations to this dress! Some of that eyelet lace could be added to the top of the armhole for a flutter/cap sleeve. The skirt could be double-layer, perhaps with a sheer/sparkly overlay. A Peter Pan collar could be added pretty simply. The skirt hem could be lengthened, then gathered/ruched into scallops with bows or flowers at the top to make a princess dress. Rickrack or ribbon could be put around any/all of the hems to add detail. A pocket or two could be added to the skirt. The skirt pattern could be cut in half, then gathered and sewn to a ribbon or bias tape to make an apron. The skirt could be pleated, or box-pleated instead of gathered. A second dress could be made of thin white muslin to serve as a slip or petticoat, maybe with an extra gathered lace ruffle at the edge. And of course there's all the options for accessorizing with hairbands, shoes, different belts (maybe add belt loops?) purses or bags etc. Once you've got this basic dress down, you could really go nuts with variations!

I made one myself I LOVE IT SO MUCH thank you for making this video i didn't know how to freestyle it so i looked on google and i saw your video and i knew i wanted to make one like that. Mine came out a little short but that's because i cit a lottle off cause i messed up. I will continue using this dress pattern I love it! I did the back by laceing up the back instead of snaps buttons and Velcro. Im very happy!!

I cannot really explain how to make it for a 14" the best I can say is make the 12 and 16" clothes and see if they fit. if not then enlarge or shrink pattern on what you think it needs

If it was a simple pattern I could like I did for the barbie pants. you might try to use your screen to trace the pattern onto paper. Zoom to 110% in the pdf and don't press to hard on your screen as you don't want to damage it. then see if you need to enlarge by trying the paper pattern on your doll. if you need to make bigger just draw an outline. The skirt pattern measures 10 1/4" X 4" be sure to put fold at the end like I did so your total skirt should be 20 1/2X 4" Hope this helps you

I like this dress! I don't have a printer though, so I have to guess how to copy the pattern. Would you consider designing future patterns on a graph paper grid so I can more accurately copy them by hand? Also, off-topic but I just bought a SteamFast mini iron and I have to say it's impressively nimble and effective, and might be a good addition to your dollmaking supplies. Mine only cost me about $12 at Walmart, so it might be worth a try for you. There's something fun about ironing mini clothes with a mini iron! And it means I don't have to leave my sewing table to do a quick press of a doll-sized seam.

I seen it at walmart and then decided not to get it as I have a little little iron and it don't work so great. Now that I know it works great. I will definitely pick it up the next time I'm there.

ThanksfulSC did you fold your material in half and then cut it. The total size for the ruffle will come to 4" X 21" So happy to hear your little girl liked it. That is all that counts 😊
