Here are my Detergent ingredients: 1800mls (1.8kg) distilled water 750mls(0.75kg) hydrogen peroxide 375 mls (0.37kg) sulphonic acid 100 mls (0.10kg) lemon fragrance oil 2250 mls (2.25kg)Palm kernel oil 1kg caustic soda 3kg Soda ash light 0.1kg dried bleach sediments 0.05kg SLS Color( optional)

Can I really substitute sulphonic acid with concentrated hydrochloric acid? and what about sulfuric acid? I just want to have my facts right. Thank you

Hi Daniel, even though some people do substitute sulphonic acid with conc. Hydrochloric acid, the answer to your questions is "no". Conc. Hydrochloric acid will produce a salt instead of a surfactant, resulting in an inferior detergent powder. You cannot use Sulfuric acid as a substitute too because first, it is not typically used as a primary surfactant in detergents, second, it will alter the detergents properties & effectiveness. Sulphonic acids is still one of the best ingredient of choice for detergent making, which provides the necessary cleaning & foaming properties needed in a good quality detergent powder.

Hi, sorry 😔 for late response. No, you can't air dry your wet detergent by itself without the sun. It is not a suitable method because the process can take a longer period with accumulation of dust, bacteria etc. resulting to degradation of product quality. I would recommend hot air oven which is simple & effective if you can afford to buy it. Thank you!

Hi, the detergent powder recipe doesn't make any change on colored clothes. However, you can add salt to prevent your colored fabrics from fading.

When caustic is added, the entire liquid reacts convert to foam , i think castic soda react with hydrogen peroxide, please guide me waht is wrong ?

Hi Rashid, nothing is wrong. It is a common reaction you witness when making laundry detergent. That foam is your detergent. You will notice that after a while the foam will reduce. Sun dry it into powdered form. Thank you for trying out my recipe.

@@karngongnancy8123 Hi Nancy, Sodium silicate is a buffering agent. In my recipe, I used soda ash which is also a buffering agent that helps to adjust the PH level of the detergent washing solution.You may use whichever one you prefer. Thank you.
