As a soap business owner, bubbles don’t clean its just pretty to look at. Your recipe will clean I make it and use it. A lot of people think the more bubbles the better clean you get. It’s not true. This is a great recipe that is why its good for HE washers because of the low suds but yet it cleans.
@grilawrfr101
@grilawrfr101 Жыл бұрын
Would that also apply to car detailing n washing? Most detailers swear that it's the suds that you need to clean the cars surface

FYI. You can make your own washing soda. Spread baking soda on a shallow sided cooking sheet. Place in a 200° oven, stirring occasionally. When it turns gray, it will have converted to washing soda

We make our laundry soap. Our towels were getting grungier and not absorbing water. Then, I saw a video on why. It takes dish soap to hit the grease buildup. So, I tried adding an 1/8th cup , a couple big squirts on top of my mix and it worked.

So much easier to use and store withou liquid. I air dry the bar soap (zote/fels naptha) then cut into chunks and place in food processor with baking soda and whiz until it's a fine powder. The powder combination dissolves easily in the wash. I made 5 gallons 5 years ago and still have not run out. Love, love, love it.

Kathleen how do you make your liquid version?

Question Kathleen…. I’ve never made any kind of cleaning item homemade, my main reason for looking into. This is my son’s extreme, eczema, and no matter what we use, even though if it says, all free, or clear, seems to still give some sort of discomfort to my son. So I was willing to try this the other thing I’m asking is how well does this dilute? My scrubs for work are black and I’ve been noticing that no matter what brand I buy all It all hammer, game, tied, you name it I always get like a liquid white residue, and I even use an extra rinse cycle so I’m just afraid if this doesn’t dilute all the way and break down and it’s gonna leave a residue? I’d appreciate any response. Thank you.

Zote is usually at Walmart. Fels Naptha is sometimes at our other local grocery stores, was constantly in stock before 2020. Zote smells like citronella oil in the pink bar, Fels Naptha used to be used as a bug repellant by the Amish too from what I have read.

very good video!! I too have been doing the same thing with zote soap and borax for years. I prefer to add the borax into the bucket instead the stock pot. And also being very old fashion as I am, have an old baby high chair next to washer for the 5 gallon bucket to sit on. Fill the bucket just over half way adding water. Next day or so, mix up with my hand and add little more water. Works out great, keep a plastic cup in the bucket for scooping. A whole bucket for me cost about $3.00

I thought you end up with a concentrate (GElled form) and you pour in half the gel halfway up in the gallon jug, and then thrn gfill the rest with water and cap it and shake it to mix....1/2 cup per load. SHake jug before using. So many versions of this. I found that it was gentler on my clothes, but that it does a great job removing stains (If you have a bad stain, you can brush some of the gel into the stain and let it stand for a few minutes.

I use the same ingredients you do, except I make powdered detergent (no water) and, as someone else said, I grind 2 bars of Zote in my food processor with some borax to keep it from sticking together. Also add a cup or so of oxy-clean and/or Biz for good stain removal. I just mix it up and keep it in a pail. I timed it once and it takes less than 15 minutes to make 6 months worth.

I love this recipe, and am making again for the 4th time today. My very 1st batch didn't turn out right, it was still very watery and grainy, I used it anyway because it still worked but left a little residue from the soda I think. The 2nd batch I made, I accidentally boiled over the igredients but was able to stir it down. The boiling is the magic that turns it into a gel like laundry soap, it's perfect. Just thought I would add a tip.

Hello, hope you are doing well. I have two questions. 1) would this detergent lather and make foam. 2) I saw a video from a lady who used to made this detergent too. She said that she is not doing that anymore because her towels became water 💧 resistance. The water was not penetrating the fabric of her clothes and towels as well. She said the clothes starting looking thingy. She said Bar soaps 🧼 works when you make friction between them with your hands or on the washing board. She said that that friction doesn’t not occur in the washing machine. As a result over time the bar soap it will create a layer like a wax on top of your clothes trapping the dirt. Then you will have to striped your clothes to remove that . Is like when you use downy, it will create a layer. Also, her washing machine broke because the bar soap started to build up inside the hose of the washer and the repair warranty did not cover the machine because she did not use a normal regular detergent . 🤷🏻‍♀️ Honestly, I don’t know what to do. Thanks anyways.

Hmm, I guess I can only tell you about my experience with the soap. I’ve never had any problems with wax build up on clothes or with my washer. All my towels are still absorbent and I’m not seeing any issues with our clothing. The only problem I’ve had with the soap is that it won’t take out a fire or smoke smell. So if you’re at a bonfire or burning trash, the soap won’t help take out the smell. Other than that I’ve had no problems. I hope this helps. 😊

Great, will try it. Do you must store it in glass bottles?

Ive used this for about eight years now. No telling how much money we have saved because liquid launry detergent is insane and even the soap sheets and other options are insanely expensive. I've also found that the citronella scent repels mice and bugs.

It's not mentioned, but are we to heat the mixture on the stove as we add the Ingredients to dissolve and thicken up? I noticed steam so on low medium heat? Simmer or boil? I really want to try this but want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Just made this! Is it normal for it to separate once I jar it? I have more runny liquid on bottom and more of a thicker, almost gel on top? I generally just shake it up and then use it..

How many quarts is the stockpot you’re using in the video? I have a 16 qt. It looks like your pot may be slightly bigger(?). If so, do you recommend that I should double the ingredients? Also, when you transferred the detergent mixture into the hot water inside the bucket-was that mainly the detergent that filled all the way almost to the top? Or did you top it off with water near the brim? My detergent mixture only reached the half way mark of my 5 gallon bucket. I topped it with water until it was near the brim.

I have a few questions. Does this get separated and thick/gel like again in the jars like it did in the bucket originally? Have to shake etc? Also, I have a top loader with a pull out drawer for liquid. Do I put it in there or pour directly into the fry clothes? OR, should I wait til the water is added before putting detergent in? The HE washers use little water. Thanks. Hope that all made sense.

Yes, it does separate and I shake well before use. I put directly on clothes. 😊

I made a very similar recipe. It does gel up. I stored mine in empty vinegar gallon jugs. Then just gave it a good shake before using.

Do you use this in a machine washer? I've heard that it is bad for the machines. I'd love to make some but dont want it to ruin my washer.

My only question is the temperature of the water added to the bucket. Is it hot, warm, room temp, or cold? Does it make a difference on temp?! I tried a different recipe that called for hot water specifically but it just turned into foam ontop of water. I hope this one will work better!!!
