I also watch Donna Jordan, and she suggests using a weight when using a long ruler. If you often cut to the side or long strips, the weight helps a lot.

Hi, love the tutorials. I am looking for the video that showed how to connect the ends of the binding on a quilt. You did a triangle trick where you didnt have to sew the edges and measure. Im probably not making sense but hoping you know what im talking about. Lol. Have a great day.

so you put raw edged binding on your quilt?? i was taught to then fold those raw edges into the middle and iron closed for you have neat folded edged like a purchased binding

Yep! I line up the raw edges along the raw edges of my quilt and sew it down, then when I flip it to the backside and stitch it down there is a finished edge there as well. You can also do it the way you mention, fold both sides to meet in the middle then fold that around your quilt edging and sew it down at the same time.

How do you do the “scrappy” binding?

Instead of cutting strips from one solid piece, I just use a variety of strips that are 2-1/2" wide by whatever length. Sew them end to end and you're all set!

Nope, I never pre-wash my fabric, unless I'm mixing cotton and flannel because flannel shrinks at a higher rate than regular quilting cotton :)
