An easier method, that doesn’t waste an egg, is to use ointments that contain zinc oxide or any other oxidizing agent. Diaper rash ointment, sunscreen, anything. Then just apply the ointment on parts that you want to turn black.

@@cyirvine6300 no I had left mine in cleaning fluid for too long and I had removed all the black parts that are meant to be there. They had turned white. My bracelet is completely fixed now.

This is really interesting. I have James Avery jewelry that I love, and one of the problems with them, is that oftentimes when they’re brand new, they aren’t oxidized as dark as I’d like. I’m particular about the ones I buy when I’m in there myself, but sometimes as a gift, I’ll get ones that are more grey than black in their details. I’ve seen two other egg videos, but this is the best one. I also watched one video where she used “liver of sulphur” instead of an egg. It’s so interesting. I certainly don’t want to pay James Avery $10 per charm and ship my bracelet out to be oxidized if I can learn to do it myself!

That was amazing, Lily. Thank you for this top tip. I have never heard of the egg method before! I absolutely agree with you that the tin foil water bath method should be avoided for any silverware as the results are quite unnatural. In your experience does the oxidization last using your method? Could the amount of oxidization be controlled by the time left in with the egg mixture?

It’s the sulfur in egg that oxidizes is the oxidizing agent (turns silver black).

Yes, in the cleaning kit you can buy, one is black and the other type is white. Like the bags i believe without looking. I have one rockstar that was silver and one that was oxidized but very pale as i bought them on a 5 clip bracelet on Ebay awhile ago. I also got the midnight bloom or whatever its called. Oxidized flower clip which could do with darkening. I don't strip the colour off with my skin. My two oxidized bracelets and snake chain necklace is perfect still. The rockstar clips look great with Bellabott. But would like them both the same. I'll give it a go sometime. Thanks.

I have a charm that has blue topaz stones. It's the three flower charm and I need to do something bc the prior owner cleaned it and there is this brownish powder film left on it and I figure oxidizing it would help but I am worried it may ruin the gemstones.

So I wore my Pandora bracelet in the sauna and jacuzzi. Now it is a ghastly ashy gray/whitish color. Is that what we are referring to as over cleaned or tarnished? The charm you show is still shiny, just missing oxidized detailing, so it's not quite the same as how mine looks. So would this be something I could do to get it back to it's regular silver color? Oxidize it and then use the toothpaste for cleaning?

I would just soak it in hot, soapy water overnight to make sure that all the chemicals from the jacuzzi are rinsed off and then run a polishing cloth over it. Pandora sells the polishing cloths that will help bring the shine back, it’ll be good as new. If you have a Pandora store or a store that carries Pandora they will likely polish it for you, you’ll just have to ask for it 😊 best of luck!

This saved my old teacup charm. I bought it used and it arrived with the top (the middle of the cup that's supposed to be oxidized) semi-worn off. It ruined the charm to me because I knew it was supposed to be dark. This totally worked and now I'll wear the charm! Thanks!

That worked really well. I had heard about using egg. If it's an oxidized bracelet with a ss clip i heard that it should just be wrapped in something but I'm not sure what to stop it being affected. Also if i did my eg rockstar clip or plain clip that used to be oxidized all over then i would just wash of the egg right? Does it just make it shiny? Or would i have to use a polishing cloth for the plated jewelery ie rose charms? I was in my Pandora store and asked why the new polishing cloths don't seem to work and put black tarnish on the cloth. Turns out to prevent people using the silver cloths to polish the rose or shine they have started to make them all without the silver cleaner in them. (The little free ones we get in Australia at least, but always test it on silver first) Seems dumb to me. They could have just put a different marking or pattern on it I'm sure. Might have to purchase a cloth elsewhere.

If you want a good polishing cloth that works, I get it by the yard on ebay. Sometimes it's called Tarnish Magnet.

I'm into Jewellery manufacturing business in India. So the fact is Pandora or any other brand do not..DO NOT.. manufacture their Jewellery, they just order us.. The oxidized colour is just a result of simple wall paint 🎨 & wipe it with alcohol. U may ask Why not really oxidize in the normal way ? The answer is customers like shiny Jewellery even if it is oxidize. So the silver colour portion of the product remains in the targeted colour.

It was a pre-boiled egg, she just put it back in the boiling water so it would be hot. In this video the shell was already removed. I have shelled boiled eggs in my fridge right now. I’m just going to throw them in hot water just like she did so they’ll be hot. 🙂

NO TOOTHPASTE!!! It takes a small amount of the silver off with the paste every time you do it, until eventually the base metal is showing..trust me, I know!! I ruined a beautiful silver bracelet this way😭

Ok at the end it looks alright but even you said you didn't do all the details so how can I know that this method can get around those crevises and keep them dark and even then when you were showing the differences between the two they were to far from the camera and not in focus enough for me to see properly I am not trying to be mean but if you are going to take time in doing the video why do things half way it is a good idea though and if it works then ok but I can't tell from you video
